Default Regulator/Rectifier

So after all the RR talks I ordered a new rr from ricks. Bike still isnt charging but I noticed that the RR plug color configuration is different from stock. Instead of the stock 2 yellows and a black up top with a yellow and a white on the second row this one has 3 yellow on top black and white on the second row. Are Ricks supposed to be this way or do I have the wrong RR?

The three yellows need to connect to yellow (no particular order, just 3 yellows
to 3 yellows). The black and white to each, respectively.

The pin-out is a little different, so you just need to re-arrange them to the correct
order. If you have a thin-bladed, flat screwdriver, you can remove the pins and
re-orient them. Just slide the blade down where the pin is and it will pop a barb that
holds it in place. You'll have to look, but it should make sense when you examine
the connector body.

Hope this helps, Ern

Default Rick,s RR

Thanks so much for the info.

I had the same problem with rr from Ricks.
Warraranty replacement same problem.
Getting ready to give a piece of my mind to them as owners at a trade show.
They were supposed to test before shipping warranty replacement unit.

Tested on voltmeter and has lots of juice. Just hope it lasts
Out 100 for battery and 22 for return shipping
Gonna talk to someone at ricks about this tommorow.

The best pace to buy a rectifier is a company in the UK. Cant think of the name of the company but you can probably search on here and find it. Seems like the name of the company starts with Electro......
They ship to the states and have the best reputation for rr's for our bikes. Requires some wiring changes but had directions and was easy to do.

so the ricks RR works if you switch the pins around, The biggest thing is that the wires are to short to sit in the loom properly. I put mine in, still no charge then I found this

Thank god I have three motors. I pulled another stator and now I'm charging like a champ.

Well done for finding the problem pmcg - looks like it may have given you intermittent grief for a while!

Yea it was defiantly a pain. My mechanical victories come from persistence rather than genius.

I CAN SURLY RELATE TO THAT...............
and that burnt wiring will all have to be replaced if you want things to work as they should.................

I can confirm that the electrex units are the best I've seen for our bikes and any others (I've replaced reg/rec's on 6 or so different bikes over the past years, last one two weeks ago on a 93 600F Suzuki.) The folks at Electrex are the best at what they do IMHO.
