Angry Radiator Protective Mesh

Hi peeps,

Now that I have my bike stripped down I have noticed that the protective mesh in front of the radiator is a mess.
I was wondering if anyone has bought an updated version of this or if we have to stick with oem parts.
I would like a stainless steel version if I can get one but can't find anything on the Internet.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

You'll probably have to make one yourself Chippy.
I'm sure someone here has done this.
It's debatable whether the originals are not a bit weak and prone to vibrate. it's about time there were some alternatives on the market. I can't find any either.

I'll see if I can make one and will let you know how it went. I don't think the wife will be too happy with a project over Christmas though.

i was going to make one, but i struggled to get the holding screws out, they started twisting the mounts, in the end i put card inside and repainted.

I made one for the oil cooler when I first got the bike as it had no protection at all. I'm also thinking of doing one for the radiator as its getting pretty crappy.

A friend of mine made one for his Kawasaki - slightly different shape but the principle is the same.......He used solid steel rod- as I remember it was around 5mm thick, bent it up in a vice, welded it together then added the mounting tabs. Fitting the wire mesh and welding it and the job (without painting it) was done. All in all, about 1.5 hours and a few dollars for the bits. I guess you could make it out of stainless and use stainless welding rods and buff it for a shiny finish. FWIW
