hey guys
i have chance to get 94 1kf with about 20k for around 1500 or so

bike is in mint condition, needs chain and possible sprockets(thats what my buddy said that did ride the bike) do they need both sprockets and chain? i think i just change them lol...
has Corbin seat Yoshimura dual exhaust and not sure if it has jet kit..
does 94 have linked braking or not?

what should i look for before buying it?
and what u guys use for oil on them, filters?
anything u guys can help me with before buying it would be great.

thanks a lot guys.

Peter

Welcome Peter

it has linked braking DCBS, use motorcycle oil not automotive and there a variety of filter
brands too. 1500 is a good deal for a 94

How many miles ? Oh ya said 20 k so yeah sprockets and chain kit

Check if the forks leak
check brake pad thickness
check cam chain rattle
check clutch "bite" and general
shifting especially 2nd to 3rd
check all other obvious stuff
like coolant & oil leaks etc

if tires are worn - 250 average to replace - factor that in

Take a peak in the gas tank with a flashlight for rust.

They are hard starters - need full choke and a 100% good battery always

offer 1300 citing sprockets and chain and potentially tires and break pads

Let us know how it goes ! - They are great bikes !

When you go see it next time make sure you hear it run cold, that'll give you an indication of Cam Chain tensioner condition. Don't be afraid if it rattles a bit initially. See if it quiets down when the bike reaches operating temp. If the seller says he warmed it up for you, be aware

People here in the States, endorse cheapcycleparts.com for original Honda parts. I have not used them personally, but an endorsement here goes a long way. Avoid the dealers if you can, but I found that throwing them a bone once in awhile to establish rapport helps.

My last set of tires, I got online. A closeout on Michelin PR2's (free shipping!). Excellent wet tires. The internets can be your friend on a lot of things

Search this site for advice on oil and filters. There's no shortage of opinions

Sounds like you may have found a good deal. One other thing to point out about these bikes is that with the proper maintenance, these bikes are good for many many miles. Im at 65k miles and it runs like a champ. They are well built bikes.

Welcome to the forum peter!
You should get it! They are great bikes.
I have a 95 and it made me love the cbr series.
They are very confident inspiring. Very quick too.
The linked braking system is one of my favorite features.
Stops on a dime.
You have a chance at a great bike.
Got any pics?

Shadow may live in grass roofed mud hut but I wouldn't call him a worm!

And by the way Shadow, congratulations on the 10,000 posts.
