Default Once again, I ask for help!

Hi guy's, ok I have a CBR1000fm, which is a 1991 model, so my question is how many years is my model run for and from when, this will help me to locate parts from different year model but will still fit with out mods. there is a little fairing damage, but i can fix them, but some panels would make my life easier if just replaced. Thanks

Varies from place to place, but here in the UK the MK2 ran from 89-91.

Unless you're in the USA, where it was only 90-91. Down under, I think went from 89-92.

Default CBR1000F MK2 to MK3 body upgrade info

Hey:

If you don't care or find a complete 93-00 MK3 body kit they will interchange, (as I mean fit) with little mods to a MK2. The paint colours may not match but it will fit. The top front fairings will not interchange parts wise but can be substituted for each other if so desired. The major things needed to do this are the body work of course, the clocks, the steel front fairing mounting bracket the clocks bolt to, and headlight (Or trim the area to fit). Also all of the little parts that trim it up.

The rear section is a common upgrade as it rids you of the Cylon rear taillight. It is a straight up bolt on change out. The side covers are the same for MK2 and MK3, as is the seat, rear indicators are the same for all years. The MK3 lowers, rear and sides will bolt to a MK2 and the other way as well but then needs mirror mount indicators. As the MK2 indicator area will break on you with the added pressure ( It breaks a lot without it) I hope this helps.

Dub

Thanks for that, i might just repair the fairings as they arn't that bad, and trying top find new could take a time, but there will be bits i need to find like the side protectors and the small round crash protectors too. Im recovering the bike tonight, which means the work will start and im going to photo it all the way, thanks for now, but will keep looking for new/replacement fairings.

Jacknife, fill in the location details in the 'User CP' (top left of the screen).

We don't want address and house number, just a country or state/city will help us understand any problems you may have and also help us search for parts to help you with the rebuild.

Cheers mate and good luck with the build. Keep us updated on progress and lots of pictures

These do come up on e-bay fairly frequently, I'll have a root around in the garage when I get home to see if I've got any spares, if not I'll keep a look-out for you.

Nice one. I missed out on a crash protector for the left side. So far there is not as much damage. Need a new crash bar for the frame. And a load of fibre glass.
