+1 there! I love my filter wrenches! Although I have used every tool imaginable to remove a recalcitrant evil filter!

^That's the one I use. I use a long extension and a breaker bar. Wiggle the filter wrench between the lower fairing opening up front to get it on the filter and then slide the extension in. I do it from the right side of the bike so I turn the handle bars to the right to give me the room I need to get the extension in.

The filter will drop out the bottom. No need to pull any plastic for oil change.

what if the "nut" on the end of the filter (K&N type) has been stripped

In that case, one other thing you can try is take a pair of channel lock pliers and grab the filter by the end. Then take a screw driver and place between the jars of the pliers and give it a turn. That should do it.

Motion Pro makes something that they claim will work on any spin-type oil filter. You attach the strap to your ratchet extension, wrap it around the filter and go to it.

Motion Pro Oil Filter Strap Wrench

Here's another idea below. The metal body won't strip out as easily as those ones with the plastic nut on the end. It squeezes tighter on the filter the harder you turn your ratchet.
