Thumbs down No Start 88 hurricane 1000

Hello I have a 88 hurricane 1000, I have had it for a long time. I repainted it , Looks great It was stored in a covered shed for about 15 yrs. I am trying to get it started with no luck yet. Here,s what I have done I have changed the oil and filter, checked fuel tank for rust -none-added fresh gas, checked all fuel filters, in tank , in fuel line and the 4 small carb filters which were all clean. did the coil pack mod . I have checked compression all 4 about 160psi and with oil added about 200 psi pulled and cleaned carbs checked diaphragms ok no tears or cracks etc and cleaned jets set floats etc. New agm battery When trying to start, cranks great, choke is fully engaged, checked float bowls for gas which gives a steady flow on each, Checked for spark on all cylinders and get blue strong spark . I can crank for a long time and it will not even pop .It seems like gas vapor comes out the exhaust The oil pressure light goes out after 1-2 seconds when cranking. I tried a bit of starting fluid through air intake and it will fire immediately and run for a few seconds . I am pretty sure this is fuel related. Any help as to the next steps to try or check would be appreciated . Thanks, As soon as I can get it running I can put the fairings back on and post some pictures.

Suggest you clean or have the the pilot jets cleaned and mains while you are in there

15 years a sitting - I'd say they need complete cleaning and possibly float bowl gaskets
float valves and orings at the interconnects

Edit your profile - tell us where you are @

I'd suggest fuel pump, but he says he's getting good flow when he drains the floats.

Vacuum leak in the carb connecting hoses?

If it's over-rich. Can you try staring it without choke?

I'm running the gamut of guesses here

Back up the bus there Dave;
so many of these old girls have had the pump taken out of the system, we maybe need to find out if it still has one before we go pointing fingers at the pump?

true

Though I've had no fuel problems since rebuilding my pump and doing the COP mod.

Doesn't answer anyone's ?'s, but I believe I'm better off with my pump intact and I'm pushing 70K mi. without a carb rebuild

Hi I will supply a little more info . I have fixed the fuel pump issue. Fixed fuel pump relay and checked fuel pump with 12 v and it pumps fine ,fast at first and then slows down, I am assuming as the pressure builds it pumps less. I have had the carbs apart twice. Checked for o=ring and gasket problems ,, all were ok Replaced I primary screw assy Took out all jets and fuel inlet cleaned with air and cleaner Are the primary jets supposed to have a hole that goes all the way through? after installed first time had some fuel leaking from 2 carbs. Thats why I removed for 2nd time and adjusted floats. Not leaking now.

Have you read your plugs after all of the cranking?

Are they fouled from excess fuel?

160 psi and 200 with oil added is normal.

How do you know? Have you lifted the tank and verified the enrichners are moving. It won't start if the enrichners don't move.
