Default No speedo? No problem

My bike has no speedo cable so therefore the speedo doesn't work. I was going to go by the shop today and get one ordered but because my paycheck is dated for tomorrow I can't deposit it or get it cashed so there would be a longer wait for the cable (non of the shops around my area are open later than 1pm on saturdays and they're all closed on sundays). I've also don't really have the money to buy a new instrument cluster like I want so I brainstormed a way to have a speedo and spend no money till I get a cable or a new cluster and figured I'd share the idea with everyone. I started with a metal strip that came off the back of an old dryer that didn't work. I cut 2 strips about a half inch wide and about half an inch to 3/4 of an inch of over hang on my phone. Then I took an extra piece of foam that was in one of my helmets (was just a loose piece sitting in the helmet bag when I got it) and electrical taped it to the inside of each metal strip. I then bent the metal strips around the sides of my phone and then measured another strip height wise of my phone with about half an inch to 3/4 of an inch of over hang. Wrapped it the same as the other 2, then with the other 2 strips wrapped around my phone i wrapped the longer strip around the phone behind the other 2 strips. I made sure 1 end was a little longer than the other on the long strip so it could easily be bent back and forth by hand so I can get my phone in and out. I haven't mounted it one my bike yet (it's too dark and I need a shower) but after I do tomorrow I'll take more pics of it. I downloaded a free gps speedometer app on my phone, and I also figured I could put my phone in a ziplock bag and then put it into the homemade holder so then I don't have to worry about it getting wet. I know you can buy holders that can hold a cell phone and are made for bikes, but I'm cheap and this setup seems pretty solid and it didn't cost me a dime. It is such a cheap thing to do that I figured it didn't deserve to be in the "How to" section so I just thru it in here for those looking for a cheap solution and hadn't thought of this. I'm just going to add the link to my photo album "cheap alternatives" and they should be uploaded in the order as the steps. Hope yall enjoy

well the links are just to my album on here, it's under the "cheap alternatives" album if you want to check 'em out. Hillbilly ingenuity runs deep thru my vains lol, just had a couple led bars for tail lights (they were on the bike when I got it) so for $10 at walmart I got a tail light (meant for a trailer but it's 3" round brake light) and 2 clearance markers (about an inch long each and have amber covers so I could use them as blinkers), cut some metal from an old dryer, and now I have me a setup. The brake light also has a clear lens on the bottom for illuminating the tag so I ran a couple more metal brackets below the brake light to hold my license plate. I'll add pics of that rig tomorrow, and then there's no telling what else I might come up with so just keep your eyes out cause more ideas are brewing in my head as I type lol
