Default New Fork Springs

Just wanted to let you guys know that I finally got my new Progresive Suspension spings installed. My buddie Steve came over to help Sat. I finally remembered how to compress the springs during instalation. I put a screw driver shank between the coils (two are better) and pushed down while Steve put the spacer on the stack. I had cut a slot in the spacer for the damper rod to pass through.
The spring rate is 0.71/1.16 kg/mm or 40/65 lbs/inch. I have about 410ml of Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF in each leg. The viscosity falls in the middle of the 10w fork oils available.
Progressive recommended 1.5 inc spacers vs. 2 in. stock spacer. The PS spings are 0.5 in. longer than stock. I made my spacers 1.75 in.
Total sag in front is now 28mm, rear 25mm. That's with me @ 260lbs and 4.5 gal. of gas in the tank.
I can feel the difference in ride height and the front does a better job soaking up sharp edged bumps. The compression damping is a little more than I'd like so I will probably be playing around this summer with different oils and levels. I don't have the ambition to instal the Race Tech valves even though I've done it before.

Great info, Bassman !
I think a sticky or placement in the how-to's may be in order.............

Compressing the springs was a question I have asked in the past, now you mention 2 screwdrivers it seems pretty obvious

I've got some brand new fork tubes waiting to go on, but I can't bring myself to whip the forks off again while the weather is holding, but I'll give your method a try once I get around to it.
