Good stuff Naga,

Progressing nicely with your usual thoroughness and care!

It WILL look better than new.

How's the recovery going?

Hi SEB

Recovery slow but steady.
Bones mending at their own speed (given ones age).
Physio, to get range of movement back, is number one priority at the moment. Repetition, repetition, repetition ... (Funny - Sanding plastic parts provides good physio exercise!)

"given ones age"

I think we are all ripening nicely Naga.

Glad to hear that your 'physio' is getting the bike and you back into good shape.

Cheers mate, SB

Nice to see an update on progress Naga, both the bikes and yours

What method are you using to repair broken plastics, welding or resin and did you have all the broken bits? I'm especially interested in the bit around the front indicator, I've been meaning to repair mine for ages, but never plucked up the courage.

Keep up the good work, it's an inspiration to us all.

Hi Hawkwind

This area has always been weak on the Series 2 cowl...

Where I wanted to re-attach lugs or where I had all the bits I used Pratley Powda Bond as per this box ...

See this video promo...... it worked just as advertised.

I was referred to this product by members of a Vintage Veteran club I belong to. They say that welding this 25yo "plastic" is always a problem as it becomes so brittle.

Where I needed to build up more strength then I used carbon fiber weave ( or strands from the weave) as a base with the Powda Bond on top.

Here is an offcut of carbon fiber from the top of cowl section.

In all cases first I roughed up the surfaces with a dremel.

I hope this helps others....

Hawkwind - what touring screen is on your bike?
Do you have a link?
Does it come in clear?

Naga, the screen on my bike is a Powerbronze unit, they call it a 'Flip screen', at the time of purchase it was available in clear, but last time I looked, this screen was no longer listed on their wesite.

Seems you're in luck, just checked and they're back up on the site, link below

FLIP - HONDA CBR1000 FK/L/M/N 89-92 - Powerbronze UK International

Hope this helps.

Where did you get the powda bond from? Looks like it could be worth a try on a crack I have had trouble with fixing.

Go for it! It has worked for me...

(But I'm not even going to comment on your personal problems ...... "Looks like it could be worth a try on a crack I have had trouble with fixing.")

Default Rehab in small steps - chrome the fairing screws

REHAB IN SMALL STEPS - CHROME THE FAIRING SCREWS

Weather here not suitable for painting the panels so turned my hand to another job in the rehab of the bike. Decided that as some of the fairing panhead screws were scratched or looking tatty I'd get new ones or get the reusable ones re plated. Decided against the original (sacrilegious! non-original!!!) plating and decided to go the resurface and chrome route.
Here is my result...

Still a long way to go but it will be worth it.

Rehab of the body? Bones repairing as planned - sign off by orthopedic expected 10 days time ... then on to serious physio.
