Talking My new minicam

I just received this little minicam
World's Smallest High-Resolution Mini DV SPY Camera MD80

I'm impressed ! especially considering the price - $24 (I added $3 for insurance)
It's so small and light ((smaller than a cigarette lighter) and comes with a bunch of fittings etc.
I'm going to fit it on my helmet and see what happens.

I fitted an 8Gb micro SD mem card to it I had lying around (takes up to 16GB)- colour is good, sound much better than the bulky unit I used to have hanging off my helmet, and easier to operate.

Something to consider if you want a cheaper alternative................?

Thats really cool. Could you post a vid from it. I may buy one and use it for hunting and riding.

seriously, would love to see how the video looks, but for $25 it almost doesn't matter.

They're good little cameras Pete. Lots of guys use them, they're so small they can just velcro to the chin guard on your helmet. $24 bucks is seriously cheap, never seen them at that price before, well done mate

I've had one of these for quite some time. If anyone wants to see the video quality, here's a short video which was taken yesterday by a friend of mine on a rideout over Wrynose Pass in the Lake District, here in the UK

YouTube - A bumpy ride over Hardknotts & Wrynose Passes, in the Lake District.

Hope you enjoy the vid

Thanks Shakey
It's almost worth buying another one and have it pointing backwards at all the bikes chasing your 1000F
Where did your mate have it mounted ?

Thanks for the comments ..... It's a great road to ride!

Shadow .... The guy in the video rides a Suzuki GSX1400 (my previous ride prior to the CBR) and as far as I remember, he has the cam zip tied to the r/h front indicator stalk.

hey hi shadow

have you had the chance to make a video on the bike yet using your new mini cam. I ordered one 2 weeks ago .. still waiting.
let me know if it works ok and if the sound filters the noise of the wind.
cheers

I've made a couple of videos so far

The picture is good, given the size and cost of the camera. Just as good as my old $90 unit from Oregon

Sound, plenty of wind noise - I stuck a strip of sellotape over the mike and it does improve things. If you have a clear screen, maybe it'd be better, but mine's black so no good.
Quality was at least as good as Shakey's mate, but then our sunshine is brighter here.....hehe.
I took it to a wedding and the sound is fine for normal speech up to 30ft away, so one should expect some wind noise at bike speeds.

Suffice it to say I ordered another one which I will mount on the back of my helmet. I always wanted to look like Darth Vader

I will post the vid when I figure out what has happened to my "you tube account"

Hope this helps.

PS Sprock has a cheaper source for the same camera - about $12.
Worth buying two at that price.
