I don't want to start a debate about oil, just wondering of the people running this oil, how many miles are you riding between changes?

Just curious, thanks Matt

you can have great oil in the engine and a real $hitty oil filter, and you will do alot of harm to your engine. just saying...

I run 20/50 oil in all my bikes,

The KLR I change every 1000k's including the filter.
The CBR every 3000k's including filter.

Very cheap insurance

That's a tough one, Matt. First you have to find someone running the oil.... then they have to be doing UOAs on it. It won't help you much if someone says "I change it every 1k or 2k or 10k".

All I can offer is a UOA from a guy running it in his ST1100. He changes oil every 8k miles. I wouldn't be afraid to go 5k+ on it.
Here's a comparison of 4 oils, including HDEOs and PCMOs. All looked fine.
I always run Rotella Oils, so I can't help you too much personally. I'll let you know when my 5k mile UOA comes back on Dino Rotella T, tho.
Dave has said that the Rotella T6 still looks good at 7,500miles and I would expect the same or better from the Mobil 1 4T. Mobil 1 is good stuff.
The thing that surprised me the most with the following analysis is the add pack on that max life. WOW! For a PCMO, that's some good stuff! I've never seen a car oil kickin' azz like that and keeping up with the HD stuff. Interesting to know.

Different bikes are always different on oils, tho. But I hope that helps??

Yeah, those KLRs are absolute hell on oil. I'm gonna change mine every 1,500miles. It's first change was at 76miles (as soon as I got it home..lol) the second was at like 500, and the third at 1,200. The 4th is about due now at around 2,500.
No oil burn yet (fingers crossed) and all on Rotella Dino. I ride her WOT everywhere I go, too.

Nice chart there Trout ..... I'd agree Dino generally has half life of Synth
But I think most of us Hurricane Guys will be changing the oil no matter
what is in there every 3 or 4 k miles anyhow.

Got 20/50 in mine now (Dino) putting 5/40 (Synth) in her when weather
gets cold (cuz I got a steal of a deal recently on the Synth )

I run diesel oil - Rotella 10-40 in mine and change it every 5000 miles or so.
Half the price and more protection......
But that's a whole bag of worms right there. (see plenty of discussions on this in the history.
Your oil will be fine.

I think these oil threads are kinda funny. Everyone asking about will my oil do this, will my oil do that? No one is realy interested in the filter part. If you have a crappy filter and lets all the dirt go thru the engine it doesn't matter how good your oil is. The dirt is what damages the engine.

The post that Trout put up is useless , Sorry Trout to burst your bubble. Unless you have the other oil sample to compare these samples too you do not know how to read the chart. Yes you can see that there is fuel in the oil, antifreeze in one, aluminum, zink, etc what shockers, They are supposed to be in the oil sample (not fuel, antifreeze). How else do you know how your engine is wearing....

Well simply put Doug ............ I think your point is TOTALLY useless too.

So Trout ............ go blow a larger bubble

Because I for one am interested in "Blackstone" type of reports on oil
composition etc .........especially in various applications such as Marine
and Aviation etc where they do have serious implications !

Oil does not break down or wear out, it just becomes contaminated.
