So it's going to be in a garage ...........right?

If so,
Fill the tank with fresh fuel,
Put it on the centre stand
Put a 'smart charger' on the battery
Put a cover over the bike.

That is what I'd do.

(actually, I just park them in the shed on the centre stand, under a bike cover and start them up every couple of weeks )

Cheers, SB

Yes. I use seafoam or stabil. And I make sure to run it for a while so it gets into the carbs.

I am located in Alberta, long winters here. I fill the tank, put stabilizer in, then I drain the carburetors by running the bike with the gas turned off until it dies. I put the battery on a charger but I also take the seat off the bike and bring it indoors to make sure it does not crack in the cold. I also cover it with a proper cover and store it in my garage as well on the center stand. I also put a piece of wood under the front tire to get it off the the cold cement.
BTW I have a '93.

i now have to run mine through the winter, but i used to lay them up,
as said fresh fuel and stabilizer
both wheels off the ground
good wash and fully dry (use an airline if you have one)
good cover.
trickle charger
and if i could i would run up every couple of weeks to operating temp and let her full cool down before recovering,
and watch out for mice (it has happened to me before )

I like to start mine every month and a half to keep it wet with oil and move the rings on the cylinder walls.

Be careful if you run it for a couple of minutes in cold weather and then shut it off. Many people think they're doing something good when all that is doing is creating condensation in the system. Unless you let the oil get hot enough and keep running it 15-20 minutes to burn off any moisture you're just adding water in places water shouldn't be.

Ever notice how your car's exhaust drips water when you first start it on a cold winter day?

You guys are all great. Thank you all for your info. I really appreciate it. I already bought a battery tender junior so today before my other loves start ( Chelsea Football and Steelers Football) Im going to ride to the store and pick up some seafoam and stabil. anything else i should get? I dont have a cover. Is it really still needed in an attached garage?
Thanks.
