Are you looking into that because you need it or you just want to pi$$ money away.

If you don't need it, I can PM you my address (I do take checks).

After 3 batteries in two years and a new rick's r/r that runs extremely hot to the touch on a 29 year old bike that lives most of it's life outdoors in a damp, rainy climate.

Testing and process of elimination points in that direction (see)

At a Total Loss

or

The Charge' d 'Affair

or

The Stator of the Union

This post has been modified to remove any silliness that wooferdog was kind enough to point out.

Is this technical support or the Saloon?

(please refer to above sticky)

Sorry! It would seam to me that the stator is putting out plenty of juice. Its the R/R's job to handle it. If your getting more than say 14v at the the battery, my guess is the R/R is not doing its job.

If your getting low voltage or amps, I would figure the stator or the R/R to be the problem.

What I know about electronics is that the number of turns in the coil, how fast it turns and the energizing force, determines output. The R/R does what its name implys.

If for some reason the wires in the stator shorted to each other, or to ground, you would get less turns and in return lose output.

I could be wrong but I personally would be pointing my finger at the R/R.
To much power is not a bad thing as long as it can be controlled.

It sucks that I can't send you my old R/R due to it coming off a '94.

I could have sent you my rectifier with the stator off my 88 motor. It is still on the shelf. If the stator is missing one leg of the ac voltage it will kill a rectifier. Went through that on another bike.

^That's very interesting. I would think that it would only reduce the power. Perhaps it over works the diodes so something like that. How did you determine it to be the stator? Did you do an AC voltage test on each leg, or resistance measurement?
