Default Intermittiant stalling.

Hi I have been riding my 1988 1000f bike for a couple of months now after rebuilding it. I have almost put on 2000 miles in 2 months . I had a couple of issues to work out . One of them being my clutch was slipping.... thanks to this forum and some parts that is fixed. New problem is that I can drive to work 1/2 hr drive with no issues and drive to work and home twice more and then on the way home the 3rd day bike loses power starts to miss and eventually dies. On my way home tonight it happened twice . after sitting for a couple of minutes the bike started fine . I have previously changed the fuel lines to gravity feed with 3/8 hose . I have done the coil mod and have my jetting set per jetting calculations cleaned carbs and set pilots to 2-1/2 turns Carbs synced I double checked my routing of the fuel lines and it seems to work OK but I wonder if that the line is not gravity fed enough. I pulled the side cover on my second time the bike died and I pulled the fuel connecter side of the fuel hose off and fuel came out OK >I then tried the bike again and it fired right up. Could it be a vent problem? fuel? Pilot screw settings? Thanks

If it happens again, try opening the filler cap with your ear next to it. If you can hear air rushing into the tank, then it's a vent problem.

I seem to be the only one who ever had a problem with the stick coil mod but sure enough it turned out to be an issue. I'm currently running my stock coils with no problems. In fact I was messing with them again tonight, running a set of '11 CBR1000rr stick coils I had a definite missfire. Pulled those and threw my stockers back on and no problem. I would suggest doing a little trial and error there (check resistance on coils, any soldered or dirty connections etc.) and going from there.

Beyond that all I can say is typical tune-up stuff... slow jets clog up easily! One can never be too sure when it comes to keeping your carbs clean.

Reckon the stick coil harness might need closer inspection no reason that it can't work.

To the OP's issue

When you gravity fed - has the fuel hose kinked in any way ?

I ended up having to feed the carbs around from the throttle
side to avoid this ( the mk2 & 3's are gravity fed from the right side too)

You may need to check your float levels and float valve screens too as well
as the internal tank screen on the petcock for fouling

all items that will restrict fuel flow & exhibit the issue you describe
