It's awful someone stole your bike! Sorry to hear that, I'm guessing it hasn't been recovered in the best of shapes

A bike left at a gas station in a different state means one of two things to me
1 It was stolen or
2 It broke down where it stands.
Probably something simple like a bad reg/rec - never mind what it is we can get her going again.

In my country, if you have a bike/vehicle with fees owing they won't allow you to pay your license for the year for any other vehicles you own until you sort it out. That includes any fines............................

I guess the paperwork is worth $200.

Get her home Indy and put up a list of spares you need.....................

I got ahold of the guy who's phone number I have, isn't the owner of the bike. I offered $750 and thought it was reasonable the guy jumped at the deal. Now I find out it isn't his. He says he will contact the owner. No way am I gonna let the money out of my sight and not get the keys and title.

My reason to get the bike was to fix it up and keep it like my '87

Tell him to give you the owner's name or maybe you can go to the vehicle registration office with the registration number and get it.

Then you're dealing with the right guy.

No deal with anyone who isn't the reg owner and has the title in hand.

Did you jot down the VIN, by chance? You can always plug it into the, FREE, national insurance fraud crime database that will tell you if someone has stolen it, or if its ever been "totaled" by an insurance company.

Be real careful Indy and bring somebody with you if you do manage to get the real owner.

You could always make $$$ selling parts to CB2CBR or TBT

Its closer to you than it is me. I didn't get the VIN. As I didn't want to get to close to it. I did get a pic of the License Plate and that is too expired. I didn't want to part it out at all.
