Default HID Lights

Hi folks,

I have searched like mad tonight and can't find any information about HID lights for the 1000f. I know there are some around that are supposed to fit.

Has anyone got HID lights on their 1000f? I have been looking into this as an upgrade and was wondering if it would be an easy one to do.

Retrofits or just a plug and play? You're probably out of luck with retrofits if you want off the shelf. You can fabricate something yourself.

You can just do a (pair?) of HID lights in your current housing. You need to modify your bulbs a bit because I don't think the 1000f's have H4's. Just a matter of bending the tines I beleive.

Default Bi-xenon

Hi,

I bought a kit off ebay a few years ago. Came with full wiring set, ballasts, new lamp connectors and HID lamps. Try looking up bi-xenon HID.

It replaces your existing wiring but is basically a plug and play, no cutting required. An excellent upgrade in my opinion.

Good luck

Read this: https://cbrforum.com/forum/how-mecha...stalls-143337/

Really easy to install. You wouldn't need to do the oil pressure switch mod, as you have switchable lights in the UK.

Thanks for the input guys.

Luckily the H4 bulbs are standard in the UK, I have been using them since I've had the bike so there is no need to modify them.

My problem is that I can't find a bike specific HID kit for the 1000f. Would a car one be the same?

All the bike ones are just single bulb/kit rather than the double one needed for our bikes so I would either need 2 kits or I need to find a double kit that will fit easily.

Car one is what you will need.
35W 6000K H4 3 HI LO BI Xenon HID Conversion KIT CAR Headlamp Slim Ballast KLXE1 | eBay
Something like that would work fine.
Read that link I posted in reply #4, and feel free to ask questions. These bulbs aren't the best in reflective housings, but its a significant improvement in the light.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, you have one bulb aimed for high and one for low? How does it work on the 1000f?

Both bulbs in the 1000f have high and low beam and work at the same time so a car kit would be better.

I have read the link and understood most of it. Just need to check out the wiring on my bike to make sure I can work out how they would fit. At least my bike is stripped down at the moment so it shouldn't be a problem

This is the kit I'm looking at:

Does it only have 1 h4 connector? Not sure how that works... Also, 8000K is pretty blue. I used a 6000K kit and its still pretty blue. Rather would have gone 5000K or 4300K
