Hey all! Oil change time. What should I use?

I run Rotella T or Mobil 1. Rotella is about $11/gal for standard oil and $21/gal for synthetic.
Mobil 1 is on sale for $21/5qts at wally world right now. Great oil, just remember to get the 10W40 or higher. The lower wts are "energy conserving" and you don't want that as it contains metal additives that can cause clutch slip.

I wouldn't worry about buying a special moto specific Mobil 1. The regular stuff will be fine. Just get a viscosity that's in the recommended range for your temps, and don't get the energy conserving stuff. (it will say so right on the bottle....inside the api "starburst")
I also run purolator filters from advance auto.

Changing at 3k isn't necessary, but that's up to you.
On the oil ... I'm running Rotella, too. Great oil for sure. I mentioned the Mobil 1 because it's also really great oil and it's cheaper than rotella synth right now at wally world ($3 cheaper and comes with an extra quart!)
If I didn't have 4gals of rotella right now, I'd be stocking up on the mobil 1.
Jared (thrdgenlxi) has put almost 200,000 miles on his F4i on mobil 1 and purolator filters. He changes every 5k miles.
The K&N is a rebranded hi-flo filter, by the way. It's an ok filter, I guess, but 2X the price of the hi-flo where I'm at. Also, I've heard a lot of oil people say that the purolator pureone is better than the K&N/hi-flo. (and also half the price and available at all advance auto parts stores)
If you like the little nut on the end, that's cool. I use the longer pureone filter for a little more filter instead and just use a filter socket.
From calsci...
Pureone PL14610:
This is how an oil filter should be made. The anti-drainback valve is double the thickness of any other here, and obviously seals very well. The media is the best available, and there's a lot of it. The bypass valve is made from a laser-cut piece of stainless steel, and just can't bind or jam.
Hi-flo HF138: An average filter at a competitive price.
K&N 138:
Made by Hi Flo. Average filter with a $6 nut welded onto the end cap.
