Question Have you removed your center stand?

I saw two threads today about you guys buying/using stands for the rear end. When lubing the chain I use the center stand (and yes, I spray the inside of the chain so I don't sling all the lube off). So I was wondering if you guys were removing the center stand for weight savings or some other reason. I searched the 1000F forums and didn't see anything. And if you do, is there a how-to?

So what are all these after-market stands about?

Joe. Mine's there to stay! It's just too handy for maintenance and on on a bike that weighs as much as ours do the weight saving wouldn't really be significant. I had a GPZ1100 with no stand and it was a complete pain in the bum to do maintenance. Just my coupla cents.

My center stand is going nowhere. I love it WAY too much.
I have paddock stands anyway, though, for other maintenance things.... but mostly for my other bikes that don't have supercool built in centerstands.

Others remove them because they decide to install certain aftermarket exhausts. Not worth it, imo.

Mine went when the big bore pipes were fitted and it wouldn't fit. It's a pain not having it, but after nearly 6 years, you get used to it.

Ok, good to know. Thought it was some sort of "in" trend there for a minute, rather than in inconvenient necessity. Thanks.

I had to remove it on my old CB750F because I was dragging it all over the road, not the case with the 1kF. It's out in the garage up on it now. I also lube (that's wax) the inside of the chain while it is up on the stand running in 1st gear.

I bought mine that way, (w/ aftermarket exhaust). I do wish it was still there, though.
