Default Gear change lever

Have a 1991 with with an earlier engine with a gear change lever which fits straight on on to splines. The problem I have is I am finding the the rubber on the lever is to close to the footrest and I am having trouble fitting my foot under the the lever to change up. Is there a shorter lever from a different model that fits?

P,
the mechanical answer to this may be very hard to find as I bet no one would know the answer; (how pseudo-sarcastic could a comment be in this great font of CBR knowledge). The easiest thing is to cut a suitable length off your foot and buy some smaller boots. That's proper customisation. Or just stop wearing the high heels!

Why not cut the lever and extend it to a useable length.
I'm not sure of the spline size or perhaps we could point you at one from another bike.

^ There may be more to it than we think. The '91 should have a mouse trap for dealing with the shaft where it is.

There are bikes being parted out. I would get the proper setup or live with what you got.

Cut the end off and bend to suit ( you need a shorter lever right ! meaning you have
good sized feet) reuse rubber - epoxy in place

Or do the buell peg or cyclepirates option - it'll move the peg somewhat to the rear

Won't there be leverage issues? The factory setup gives you the best throw and leverage.

Could a change a foot position help? Some people ride with the footpeg closer to heel of their boot. I ride with the peg under the ball of my foot. Requires a little extra movement to shift but I can just catch the shifter with the toe of my boot using just the welt of the boot instead of putting my whole foot under the shifter.

I hope this makes sense. I haven't had any coffee this morning
