Not a difficult job. As said above if one doesn't wish to invest in a professional seal driver a short length of PVC pipe can be used. Mine was about six inches long, slit lengthwise to slide over the tube. A little lubricant and it made a pretty good slide hammer.

$250 to replace fork seals? and that's after removing the forks from the bike? seems awful expensive when the hardest and most time consuming part of the job is already done.

I have done fork seals three times between me and my dad's canes, and once on my dual-sport. I have used a length of PVC longer then the chrome tube with a block of wood and a rubber mallet using the old seal to protect and help drive in the new seal.

You get pretty much one try, if for any reason you have to remove the new seal it can fail in the future rapidly. I used fork oil to help lubricate the new seal. I have also used wheel bearing grease which seemed to work better.
