Engine Diagram - Confused
Hi,I have a CBR1000F 1994, it appears to be an Australian compliance bike. I bought the bike on ebay here in Australia. It's got a grey/black paint scheme. The engine is confusing me as it seems to be different from the one I'm looking at in the copy of the Honda CBR1000F Service Manual I have.I'm looking at a picture of the Crankcase Seperation sec10-6 pg131,and there are two bolts (labelled 8 and 10) that seem to sit just inside from the headbolts. For the life of me I can't find them on my bike's engine.I'm only a newbie and my mechanic hasn't worked on a CBR1000F before. The bike I have has a gear problem, as soon as you put down some power in thirdgear it just jumps out of gear. What is the exact engine I have.. and which manual do I need? If those two bolts exist will they mean a lot more labour in getting inside the engine to check the wear on the gears? Are American/German/Japanese/Australian CBR1000f's identical or have slightly different engines?Any ideas? Thanks,
Luke

RE: Engine Diagram - Confused
Dont panic about those bolts. They are not inside the engine as they are part of the crank case bolt assembely. The engine you have is the same as everyone else as they did'nt change until 1996. Hope this helps. When you get the main shaft out check the gearing cog and the shift drum and forks for wear and tear.

RE: Engine Diagram - Confused
Thanks so much for the advice folks. Sounds like I was barking up the wrong tree if those bolts aren't an issue.
Any idea where I can get myself the GENUINE HONDA CBR1000F OEM WORKSHOP REPAIR/SERVICE MANUAL I'm bidding on one on ebay atm.
Direct from Honda would probably be very expensive too..
Also recommendations on places to get replacement parts and gaskets (aside from direct through Honda) would be handy ;p
Thanks again. Can't wait to get this bike on it's legs.

The manual that you have downloaded is of better use than the honda oneas they use photo's and they are not all that clear. Also the manual that you have is easier to understand and mixed in with the haynes manual, that should be really all you need.
As for parts, there are plenty of options on the net, but alass, there are some that you have to put your hand in your pocket for as they seem to be an oddity.
All the best with your new bike and hopefully you'll have it up and running soon.

Hi Slademan, I'm assuming you mean the main drive chain has snapped?
In which case the part you're referring to will probably be the front sprocket cover. Does it look like this?
HONDA CBR1000 CBR 1000 CBR1000F FK 1989 SPROCKET COVER & CABLE *FREE UK POST* | eBay
BTW. You may be better off starting a new thread of you own rather than reviving a thread from 2007
Hope this helps. If not get back to us.
