Default Drive chain

Now I know this has probably been flogged to death and I did search but only found old posts (including one from our very own ROTY winner) so:

What brand chain are you running and does anyone have an opinion about clip style master links?

I found this one on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT

Looks to good to be that inexpensive. Any thoughts?

The chain lloks good, I would not use the join link that comes with it though. As this is a consumable part I would give it a go.

I ordered one of them and it looks great. I'll be doing trackdays with it so I'll let you know how I feel about it.

EK , RK & DID ........prefer a rivet master link myself !

Chains, sprockets, brakes & tires are THE items I personally would cheap out on ...ever

I prefer a 530 chain to have a tensile strength of greater than 9000 lbs !

I noticed most chains that are recommended for the cbr100f have a tensile strength of 10000 lbs or more, this cheap one is only 8200 lbs so I do not know if it may be strong enough, maybe someone out there knows of a minimum that is considered safe for our bikes?

the one I currently have on my bike is the cheapest o-ring chain-and-sprocket combo I could get from Parts Unlimited (I was in a hurry, so I got it at a dealer). I think I paid $115 for the chain and sprox together (really), and it's been fine. I've got maybe 12,000 miles on the combo now, and I think I've adjusted it 3 times since installing it.

Chains are like oil. Do it right (chain AND sprockets), get one that isn't horrible (make sure it's an o-ring chain) and you're about 95% of the way to the best possible avenue. If you spend big bux you might get a few more miles...you might not. I don't see the point.

re: clip links...when properly installed they do not come apart. Rivet links are even safer, but require more tools/bigger PITA if you need roadside/back yard repair ever. I personally use clips, and after it's installed I clean the outside of the link/clip thoroughly, and put silicone goop over it and let it set for 24 hours before riding. Not only will it not come off, it will take you 10 minutes to get it off when you _want_ to remove it.

My $.02
