Clutch questions
Guys,
I was after some info on the clutch. My clutch is very " soft " feeling and although it does work I feel it could be " firmer ". The master cylinder isn't leaking as I put a kit through it not long back. I'm wondering if the clutch is becoming worn out and might need replacing or would I benefit from some new springs and see how that goes. I do notice that it doesnt " engage " until the lever is almost totally let go. I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Thanks mate. I checked out Malbojahs how to on it and it looks like a reasonably easy job. Should I go for Barnett or EBC clutch parts ? I'll replace everything so I'll get a full kit including springs. I've never had to do a bike clutch before so it will be a learning curve. I'm happy to have a crack at it myself though. With Malbojahs how to it looks pretty easy to do. Thanks.

Yeah Malbo did a nice one with that how too - in fact I'm picking up most of what's left
of his 94 next week
The Barnett kevlar has a distinct hard bite to it - the ebc not so much a good bit
smoother - thing will be to evaluate the steel non friction plates for scorching and
warping - hopefully you don't need to replace those and just go with new friction
plates and Heavy Duty Springs
ahh I see you just pulled up TomTTT's thread
If I was doing a Barnett clutch Bordo I'd buy their whole matched set - plates, springs
and friction set

After a discussion with Sprock this morning, I've gone with EBC standard friction plates and Barnett springs at this stage. I will check the steel plates and if they are shot I will order those as well. My bike has led a pretty sheltered life but it has done 70,000km and I expect the clutch plates are just worn out and the springs have lost their tension. I do ride a Blackbird Tim and yes it is a bit firmer but on my 1000F its a lot softer and doesn't have much " engagement " ( for want of a better word ) left in it to me. It certainly works but seeing that the parts aren't overly expensive and it looks to be a reasonably easy job after reading Malbojahs how to, I'm happy to replace it and see what happens. After that's out of the way I'm then looking at a new rear shock......
