Welcome to the forum Steve,
When asking a question abouth the CBR1000F, it is best to let us know what year as there are subltle (and not so subtle) differences between the Mk I, Mk II and Mk III - including in the carby/vacuum area.
Have a look for the link to the workshop manual, download it and see if you can locate the info there in the meantime.

No where !!!! on 89 - 99 they have tubes attached that wrap around back of the airbox
and just sit back there
on 87 - 88 the T joints just point down at 45 degrees with no tubes.
They are only breather tubes for the tops of the carbs and are not VAC tubes
This is a fact as I've been doing nothing but all 3 generations of carbs as of late
