Default Brake Lines

When moving the CBR in the garage I noticed a wet spot under the front. A quick look showed brake fluid leaking from somewhere up above the left wheel cylinder. Maybe a loose fitting, but those lines are 23 years old. It would seem replacement might be a good idea.

I've hit every online site listed on Yahoo and find either 'this may fit your ride' or 'will not fit your current selection'. Anyone out there know of a source for braided steel brake lines for our babies?

Call up Galfer or a company that makes lines.

They'll hook you up.

Fittings are about as standard as it gets across all of the metric motorcycles out there. Then all it's about is line length.

Thanks everyone. EBay never even crossed my mind. I'll check Galfer out. None of the sites carrying Galfer had anything for the CBR. I didn't realize they would do custom work.

Oh man, they're great. They don't even charge for it! When I was putting hi rise dirty bars on my bike, I called them and said that I needed a cbr 954 kit with an extra 5 inches - they didn't charge extra and I had them in hand in a couple of days.

I'm sure most of the companies are like that though. The SS line is relatively cheap and the fittings are mostly the same...

It sounds like you're sorted. I hope you get them and get them on your bike quick!

I'd recommend you go for 'race' set-up and do away with the metal link pipe which runs across the top of the front mudguard (fender). You'll need two 750mm lines and a double banjo to screw into the master cylinder. I fitted the previous bike with this arrangement and it gave a marked improvement in feel and braking force.
The only mod you'll need to do yourself when fitting is to make some clips for the lines on the forks where the original lines attached. You can probably find something at your local hardware store which will suffice. The clips stop the lines flapping in the wind or catching on anything. Pretty important really.

Thumbs up +1 on Spiegler

Sorry to revive this thread, as I am doing the Spiegler brake and clutch lines now.
I have to echoe Sprock, these lines are amazingly well fabricated.
They come in multiple colors combination and most important, they are DOT approved.
I will take pictures of mine and post next week when I am done.
