87 float hight

Interesting, my understanding was the floats acted as a reserve between the immediate fuel demand (snapping throttle open) and the inertia of building vacuum to draw more fuel through the line(s), this not starving the engine of fuel momentarily.
So I guess your right, for that reason. Hopefully someone smarter than me can confirm or clarify.

I'm not sure whether you can adjust the floats on the Mk1.
The "transition" from idle jets to main jets may be the problem - maybe the idle jets need to be cleaned ?
(I had this problem on a 90 model and that's what helped)
Maybe run some injector cleaner through the carbs as an easy fix, and if that doesn't do it, strip and clean the carbs.
And as far as I know Rolli's spot on !
That's why injected engines don't have float bowls - they have a high pressure pump to keep the fuel flowing through the injectors.
I would also check that you don't have sediment or sludge in your petcock which is reducing your fuel flow and that your petrol pump is working correctly.

Model H - US model should be a height of 9,5 mm.
Too low and it could run dry under full throttle, too high could cause a
fuel leak like i had.

For cleaning carbies, go to the hardware store and get some toluene from the paint section, costs less and is more effective, and you get a nice octane kick to boot.
I've used it as strong as 40:1. Normally I'd say about 100:1 is enough to clean out the tank and carbs of any petrochemical crapola

its nice info i appreciate the nice info and it helps answer some of the question but i guess i did kinda ask the wrong question .. what i mean is im running the pod filters and increased the fuel dilivery and raised the needle. mid range and top end runs smooth and so does the lower but the lower seems slighly sluggish .. in the jet kit i bought it states if mid and top are running smooth leave it be and if some slight sluggish feel along the lower range adjust float hight 1mm(+/-). was wondering the stock hieght since it had stock main jets in ?whats needed to measure it? and how do u adjust it ?
