stop working so hard, youre making me feel lazy for not working on mine.
+1. Mine doesn't even need anything major and I can't bring myself to set my beer down long enough to go clean her up and adjust the chain....

Real nice job there, pmcg. Props to you for the effort.
It looks like that motor is gonna be a pain to clean up. Was the PO storing it in a sulfuric acid factory?

Yeah Dylan..I'm a bit the same. Adjusted the chain and lubed all the pivot points last weekend. Turned out to be a two beer job with a bit of music in the background.

pmcg. Your dad sounds like mine...Good work so far, and quick too. You'll be on the road in no time. Are you going to paint the frame or get it powder coated? might cost more but lasts and looks awesome. Keep up the good work mate and I'll drink enough beer for you too...just so you don't have to stop.

Yeah, my big plan today when I got off work was to clean it and do the chain (again). Now it's dark outside.....LOL..
I'm such a slackass.
I too shall drink to other people's will power and motivation.....

Good on you, pmcg.

You got reeealy busy there pmcg!!!!

There's plenty of stuff I need to do on my bike , but she's running so I just want to ride !

Had to wait to get a chain delivered and missed a few days riding , wife said i was unbearable to live with

Was looking at the first picture and thought I spotted a shiny bit , but then I saw it was just a sticker

She's gonna look great when she's all done

It's very nice of you fellas to drink all that beer on my account.

I was going to powder coat but I used to manage a body shop and my old boss will paint it cheap. PPG makes a clear coat that’s really hard so I think that should do the trick.

I can assure you there is not a single shiny spot anywhere on the bike!! The motor is sooooooooo disgustingly dirty.

Any of you gents recommend a place for bearings. I figure while I'm here I'll replace them all.

That's what we're here for mate...just to help.

Hey, how about we nominate 'Black Beauty' for ROTM?? The "pile 'o' parts" pic would be pretty hard to compete with...I wonder what the other guys would make of it..

Wheel bearings ?
Engine bearings ?

Wheel bearings from your local bearing supplier. Take samples. There are 5.

Engine, probably www.mrcycles.com
or
www.bikebandit.com

Good call Shadow. I am going to replace the wheel bearings. No point paying extra because the Honda Dealer touched em.

So i decided to take Dave's advice and Powder Coat the frame. A good friend just bought a GSXR 1000 (2004 with a pipe and power commander, silly fast) with a blue powder coated frame that looked great. Big question here if I powder coat the frame red will you guys still talk to me?

Next question is while i have the motor out I was thinking (a dangerous thing) of pulling the head for inspection and replacing the cam chain tensioner. I have no idea if it was ever done 30,000 miles on her. Is there a way to tell if it’s worn? Don’t want to replace it if I don’t have to .....but while I'm here.

Finally any one recommend a cleaner for the motor. I can't seem to scrub the sulfuric acid look off it.

Pics!!! Frame getting stripped
