I need some help, bike would start before just idle ****ty and die occasionally. Now it turns over but wont start at all.

I took everything apart to clean my carbs cause it's been running like ****/not starting. First off carbs were already really clean. I checked the spark plugs one had some fluid on the threads but nothing major. The person who had the bike before crossthreaded two of the spark plugs, am I gonna have to take everything apart now to fix it?

but i noticed when puttin it all together these hoses were not connected to anything, looks like one goes into the carbs not sure where the other goes.

How do I check if the fuel pump is working? I can hear it clicking and see bubbles in the fuel filter area, when I turn the ignition to 'on'

In not too familiar with that model, but looking at the direction and length of them, I would have to say they plug into the bottom the airbox.

an easy way to see i the pump is working is to disconnect the hose from the carbs, put it into a container and turn on the key. These pumps are really low pressure, but you should get a fairly good stream, but again, very low pressure like 1.5-2 psi. Basically, if you have gas coming out, its working.

I disconnected the hose it's spittin out gas great, it still turns over great, sounds strong, it's just not firing up. You think it's the spark plugs? I pulled out the old ones but I put them back in cause they looked fairly decent but like I said #2 and #3 were cross threaded so I couldnt tell how tight they were when I put them back in. I was gonna check the timing but it should still fire up even if it's off right? It was running few days ago nothing has changed.

Also those hoses don't go into the airbox there is no way they would fit, the top part of the carb goes over the hoses and wont allow them to point up.

If this was oil, then that's perfectly normal.

Well would it not fire if the spark plugs were too tight/too loose?

Certainly. If they were too tight, you could have cracked a core. This is hard to see externally. If they're too loose, you could loose chamber compression, and your mixture won't ignite, or fully combust.

Send CBRClassic a PM, and see if he feels like helping you with the hoses. He's one of the few that has experience with the older breed of CBR.

If you want to fix those plugs, your gonna need to find a way to get them out. They will probably back out, and then drill it out and put a helicoil in there.

Those hose have to go somewhere. being that one of the hoses goes directly to the end of carb, which happens to be where the vaccum asisted slide diapram is, it stands to reason that the bike is not running right because the slide is not moving up fast enough. thats the main reason I would have assumed it was supose to go into the air box.

I really dont think this right, but it almost looks like they connect together. maybe a sleave is missing that orignally connected them? It looks like the smaller hose is a vaccum source, while the larger hose is a vaccum assisted ..... maybe connect em and try to run it. But its only a guess, and probably not a great one, but I'd do it just to see if runs.

That's what I was thinking. it looks like they would line up perfectly, but it's missing a connector.
