View Full Version : 01 f4i bulb size? Rasta_Ryd3r_F4i01 06-07-2009, 01:56 PM everywhere i look i see HY, H4 and other random stuff on the real bulb size for the 01 f4i ? andyone know the real size? that will fit my bike!? FlyinF4i 06-07-2009, 02:05 PM I think they are some uncommon size like H7... I know the 900rr uses a unique H4 bulb; probably only made by honda, haha probably best off just going to the dealer for the bulb... Rasta_Ryd3r_F4i01 06-07-2009, 02:25 PM i do want to get let the super white almost blue ones thats why i was looking for new, eventually ill get HID but for right now yeah. soooo h7? ars1986 06-07-2009, 03:17 PM yeah it is the h7 i bought a pair straight from hong kong off ebay for i think it was 4 bucks Aken 06-07-2009, 03:32 PM H7 fo sho. florida f4i 06-07-2009, 08:40 PM I think they are some uncommon size like H7... I know the 900rr uses a unique H4 bulb; probably only made by honda, haha probably best off just going to the dealer for the bulb... Uncommon? I wouldn't say so. Not as common as other types of bulbs? Sure, haha. It's not like they are hard to find or anything, any auto parts store carries it, and I know you can find HID's in that bulb type. H4's aren't hard to find, either, same deal as the H7. Uniqsol 06-07-2009, 09:58 PM What do you have to remove to replace the bulbs? Just the black plastic on either side of the tank? Aken 06-07-2009, 10:16 PM Yeah that should be enough. Uniqsol 06-07-2009, 10:45 PM Now is that just the 2 alen head bolts ...or is there more to it? florida f4i 06-07-2009, 11:33 PM Pretty sure that's all there is to it. I haven't messed with mine in awhile, but they will be needing to be replaced/upgraded soon. Aken 06-08-2009, 12:57 AM Two bolts in the upper, and then they're popped into the side fairing as well. Easy as pie. Uniqsol 06-08-2009, 08:34 PM What aftermarket bulbs have you guys used. I like the Silverstar bulbs, but I have heard that they get too hot and sometime will melt the headlight housing...Any info? Aken 06-08-2009, 10:55 PM Best halogen H7 bulb available (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/US-DISTRIBUTOR-Original-OSRAM-Silverstar-H7_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZQ7c301Q3a1Q7c293Q3a 1Q7c294Q3a30QQ_trksidZp4634Q2ec0Q2em14Q2el1262QQha shZitem562eb08837QQitemZ370150508599QQptZMotorsQ5f CarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories) Ignore rumors of headlight housings melting, it's rubbish. I've never seen first-hand experience of this from anyone I've known in my automotive history. Uniqsol 06-09-2009, 12:08 AM How are those different that the Silverstars I see at auto parts stores? Also, what does the color look like...super white or do they have a blue-ish tint to them. Do you run these on your bike? How are those better than these: Sylvania Silverstar H7 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Sylvania-Silverstar-H7-High-Performance-Lights_W0QQitemZ230339082595QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMot ors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item35a147796 3&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=65:2|39:1|240:1318#ht_1521wt_1677) Edit: what do the 4000k and 4100k ratings mean? I assume one has a bluer tint to it...which one? I think these are more equivalent to what you posted Aken: Silverstar ULTRA H7 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Sylvania-Silverstar-Ultra-H7-High-Performance-Lights_W0QQitemZ230339088877QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMot ors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item35a14791e d&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=65:2|39:1|240:1318#ht_1576wt_1658) I would like to do this as cheap as possible, which is why I am asking so many questions. dftsupra 06-09-2009, 12:12 AM i use piaa nice light and does not look cheezy Uniqsol 06-09-2009, 12:29 AM What about Osram Night Breakers...those look wicked. 90% more light. I think that would be a unique headlight to have in the states. jp_greenville13 06-09-2009, 01:41 AM If you ride at night I would wait until you can get the HID's. Any blue halogen bulb (even if it is marketed as "xenon") limits light output. In my cage I like the Luminics usa true blue's. I would never put them on my bike. They look bright when you look at them (and sexy) but they SUCK to drive behind. Get the real deal if you ride at night. Aken 06-09-2009, 06:32 AM Those two Silverstar bulbs probably have nothing different about them except packaging. The Osram Silverstar +50%s will be better. Honestly, stop trying to be cheap. If you want really cheap, go to Autozone and buy generic H7 bulbs for $8. But they're not gonna be anything good. If you want good vision and lasting performance, spend the $30. Night Breakers I don't know for sure - I saw a couple that had a blue coating, which is usually a definite no-no. My recommendations are based on those from http://www.danielsternlighting.com, which if you look you'll see he knows his light bulbs. You do NOT need HIDs to ride at night. Yes, they're brighter and have a nice color, but that's an annoying misconception that you NEED HIDs. Boo. You should at least get a good bulb, though. Thanks, I just read an article on that site...Imma go with the Osram Silverstars. florida f4i 06-09-2009, 01:19 PM How are those different that the Silverstars I see at auto parts stores? Just that you should never put a coated bulb in a tow wheeled machine. If it's not HID then it's clear halogen for me. shawnyc01f4i 06-10-2009, 09:53 AM What is the allowable wattage before you blow the fuse? 40w? 50w? lino129 11-02-2009, 12:00 AM how many of the Osram Silverstars would i need for an 01 f4i? dont flame me and jsut say "go look at the bike noob" i dont have it yet but am planning ahead for stuff imma want/need. prudent, i know. :) Incognito 11-02-2009, 01:37 AM You need two :icon_jammin: lino129 11-02-2009, 09:51 AM aight thanks bro! :icon_pimp: |
