View Full Version : just cut 7" off two brothers can EVILCBR 06-06-2009, 12:35 PM let me know what you think. ive posted up before and after shots f4itypeofguy 06-06-2009, 12:48 PM looks sweet man. Much better looking shorter. Anyone know if you can do this with the carbon fiber can? EVILCBR 06-06-2009, 12:57 PM yup, my buddy cut his CF 2bros. bown yesterday, i used a chop saw, he used a sawsall with a blade made for cutting CF. his turned out just fine jp_greenville13 06-06-2009, 01:00 PM How does it sound? EVILCBR 06-06-2009, 01:26 PM its a little, but the tone changed more than i thought it would, sounds meaner i think. its eventually gonna get cut down to about 7" total, then hidden under the rearset (gsxr600 2bros. style) im gonna post a youtube vid pretty soon. ill just post the link when i do. spazinout777 06-06-2009, 07:00 PM did you have to do any tuning after you cut? I have an 02 and playin around one day i ran it on str8 pipe just slippin of the muff, and there was dramatic performance reduction. I have the exact same pipe as you. I love the way it looks on the bike, but just a bit low on funds. btw i don't have a PC on it yet. Zero1080 06-06-2009, 07:59 PM I'd retune it, IMO. But question, do you need a PC when you get the K&N air filter? Doesn't seem like you would, dealer pushes it though. EVILCBR 06-06-2009, 09:52 PM i havent re-tuned it yet but i plan on taking it to the dynojet certafied shop down the road to have a tech give me an acurate tune. thats gonna be after i remove all the silencers in the intake and cut the can down to about 6-7" then down under the rear set. ive got the dynojet o2 delete already thrown on there. heres the to the youtube vid for the sound, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjNe1hckz0k EVILCBR 06-06-2009, 10:00 PM pc has a tune on their website for just a K&N with stock exhaust. i dont really think that it would make that much of a difference to where you would really need the tune. but if you have the pc already with just the K&N then why not just do it. it only takes a couple minutes jp_greenville13 06-06-2009, 10:22 PM I like. sp3akofthedevil7 06-07-2009, 12:34 AM Yeah you can do it to the carbon fiber cans.....I'm his friend that cut 6" off of mine the other day. I just used a jigsaw with a fiberglass blade on it, and masked off the area where I was cutting so that the weave of the carbon fiber wouldnt get all screwed up.. it cut right through and worked just fine. Here are some before and after pictures.... http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b351/sp3akofthedevil7/f4i1-1.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b351/sp3akofthedevil7/f4i2-1.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b351/sp3akofthedevil7/f4i4.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b351/sp3akofthedevil7/f4i3.jpg knonfs 06-07-2009, 04:32 PM its eventually gonna get cut down to about 7" total, then hidden under the rearset (gsxr600 2bros. style) Thats exactly what I want to do, 08 CBR 1000RR :) f4irider84 06-08-2009, 09:09 AM Yep sounds pretty nasty, good job man! EVILCBR 06-08-2009, 10:23 PM thanks man |
