View Full Version : Undertail for 06 1000 RR
Rice Burner 02-21-2006, 06:14 PM Hey, what's up - newbee to the site here.
Just purchased a 2006 1000 RR (Blue/Yellow) to replace the 03 gixxer 1000 that I sold several months ago. I've been riding for the past 18 years.
Can anyone offer some suggestions on cleaning up the undertail. That stock mud flap - license plate holder has to go. I'm going to replace the stock muffler with a slip-on, but I'm wondering what others are doing with the undertail?? If this has previously been posted, perhaps someone could supply the link to the post.
Thanks in advance for any responses.

Fender eliminators are popular topics... try searching for "fender eliminator" to see what comes up. I have a Competition Werkes on my 1000rr and one from Larry (http://www.sprengineering.com) on my 600rr.
Jardine makes one as well as http://fendereliminators.net.
Hope that helps!

Anubis 02-24-2006, 08:45 AM Heads Up, Rice Burner Welcome to the Site, I used the innards of the original..... until i can get a more recent pic of what the end product looks like here it is bare innards... still looks better than the stock wind sail in my opinion.

Rice Burner 02-24-2006, 11:53 PM Thanks for the responses everyone. I've been spending some time looking on the web and there are quite some choices. One thing that I've seen that some people are doing (which I like) is a simple band around the muffler with a bracket for the license plate. I did see from some that they were not satisfied with the quality of a kit by fenderliminators - anyone on this site with a comment about this??
I've enjoyed this site so far, and am always on the lookout for trick mods for my bike.
WolfPack 02-28-2006, 09:02 PM I put on a Yosh and removed the rear sail but have my plate zip-tied verticle to the Passenger peg...very solid and doesnt look all that bad...i think ill pop for a competition works eventually....Especially when spring rolls around and i need the passenger pegs for a passenger....
Anubus----> Tell me how your bike is so damn clean in such crappy weather in that pic.....You in a competition for cleanest Black Bike with MGA-Oden???
Tigg3k 04-08-2006, 02:07 PM I just put a www.competitionwerkes.com on my 06 1000RR. Install was very simple... it's a little pricy.... But it looks super clean!
1BADCBR1K 04-08-2006, 02:53 PM I have the BikeLitez F/E on mine. Looks very clean and easy to install. Check out bikelitez.com.
gintelis 04-08-2006, 05:25 PM Ch[8D]eck this out: http://www.eurobikes.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=1_28_49&products_id=79
jcf1977 04-08-2006, 08:04 PM Don't waste your money on aftermarket crap. I made my own bracket for 10.00 and it blows anything else away as far as looks go. Check out my gallery for detailed pics.
WolfPack 04-08-2006, 11:38 PM Yep...Ive got a plan for a DIY mount...I think it should turn out pretty slick for <$15 worth of Aluminum angle/sheet....I should have it done by next weekend....will mount to the inner batterybox lip/stiffener on an 04/05 and put the bracket at the same location/angle as the ComWerks LTD kit for the 06....Ive got the CA integrated taillight so i dont need any signals.
btw...that $299 undertail kit in the link above is pretty slick....not a bad deal either considering the Comititionworks bracket/signal kit is $170...Id have to see one in person though...
Rice Burner 04-10-2006, 12:02 PM In the end, I went with a fender kit from Larry at the following link. Cost $30. I do know that you can simply make a DIY bracket, but I've looked at these on other bikes and didn't think that $30 was too much.

I just got the Bikelitez F/E and I tell you what, it was a pita becuase I didn't know I was going to have to drill my own holes. Anyways after wrestling with several methods to getting the holes drilled I managed to figure out a way that worked. I love the way it looks but man it was a little confusing at first. Plus dude at bikelitez forgot to include the turn signals in the kit so after I cut the lines and removed the fender I noticed this...oh well. Now I gotta wait till next wednesday to get my signals on.
eyerish rider 07-12-2006, 06:07 AM yo i am also looking in to other pipes as well let me know what u find out for now i riped the hole dame thing off so it just the pipe and nothing else it actually look pretty decent so untell u find what your looking for thats what i suggest happy trails and let me know what u find

JonJon 03-20-2007, 02:05 AM Yeah I did the same thing I posted and then saw how old it was. Take some pics of your new tail. I want to see what you got and what it looks like. I Just bought a 1000 RR and am looking at tails. So please lets see it when you get it on.
jm1000rr 03-20-2007, 07:56 PM I have an 06 myself and a Hotbodies exhust is the only way to go. It is the cleanest looking set up I have found. A little extra heat tape, slight modification to get it to fit, and she is nice and loud.
JonJon 03-20-2007, 09:04 PM Do you have any pics of the hotbodies on your 06. If so let me see please.

taylorac 03-27-2007, 12:39 AM What does the laser exhaust sound lik. If you can compare it to Arrow, Two Brother and Micron if you can. I also like the way the Laser looks and I am leaning towards it but I trying to do my home work before I run out and buy it.
kodiak1122 03-27-2007, 12:49 AM Here a link toanother thread on pipe sounds. Maybe you have seen already.
Unfortunatly, we do not know what bike the tests were run on, and most likley sounds a lot different than coming fromcomputer speakers.

CBR1000 03-29-2007, 06:58 PM Kodiak, a couple of questions for ya. I heard the lights that come with thecomp. werkes FE are stick onwith double stick tape. Is that true? Also, your tank protecter is that a clear one or silver? I see youkept the stock exhaust. Any concerns about adding a slip-on exhaust after you put on the FE and would it be better to do them both at the same time. Great pics, thank in advance.

The Tail lightscome with double sided foam tape. The licence light comes withstrongerdouble sided tape, its 3M VHB (Very High Bond)I use the same stuff at work.
The tank protector is clear. Here is link to the product. This is not where I got it from http://www.cyclestuffusa.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=11325
I have no plans on replacing the stock can. (please no flaming) The Undertail / Fender Eliminator installs and removesvery easily. So, if you get a new can later, it should not be a problem.
myride 03-29-2007, 11:00 PM i put a hotbodies slip on and undertail om my 05 1k
myride 03-29-2007, 11:02 PM i put a hotbodies slip on and undertail on my 05 1k works and sounds great
CBR1000 03-30-2007, 12:36 AM Thanks Kodiak. I wish they didn't use tape. It doesn't seem right. I was considering staying with my stock can as well.

The foam tape for the tail lightisnot applied, you have to put it on. But, you dont have to use it if you dont want. I did not notice any other mounting holes for screw attachment on the lights.
kodiak1122 03-30-2007, 12:47 AM Admin, please delete.
JonJon 04-01-2007, 10:50 AM I just ordered an undertail for my bike. It is a hotbodies one. but not the one with their exhaust.
I got this one. Just in red

JonJon 04-03-2007, 01:29 AM The one I got does have both plate light and turnsignals.
sun people 04-23-2007, 11:00 PM Has anyone else gotten the fender eliminator kit from http://www.sprengineering.com/ (http://www.sprengineering.com/) i would like more feed back on installation
sun people 04-23-2007, 11:07 PM I forgot to mention it's for the cbr 1000 2006. I'm so happy with this bike but the fender has to go. I have the yellow and blue any other cosmetic mods. let me know.
scottnh1970 04-24-2007, 06:53 PM JonnyJon,
Please post pics once you get it installed. I was considering the kit as well, but have concerns on what slip-on will work with it. Do you know if it will fit over the Arata T-Box?
sun people 04-24-2007, 07:46 PM I think they say which aftermarket pipes it goes well with on their site. Also you can email them...yeah this might be the one for the money. That competition werkes looks good though.

I posted another thread with all my mods on it.
Falcon9901 05-04-2007, 11:01 PM I have the fendereliminators.net one on my bike and i cant be happier with it. small, sleek and stylish with the turnsignals attached to the plate bracket and the bright tag light. i get some problems with the cops, but that will happen with almost anyone of these kits unless your plate is exactly perpindicular to the road
SproutRR 05-05-2007, 09:03 PM I bought the Competition Werks FE.The install is very easy and it looks immaculate. If you like I will send a picture or two.
Sprout
sun people 05-06-2007, 10:05 AM any pics of the mods you all have done...My stock 06 cbr 1000 needs some real help. Also is it simple for a novice to install the fender eliminator...I was looking at it this weekend and really dont no where to start in cleaning up the factory fender
SproutRR 05-06-2007, 04:22 PM FE install is simpleto do;the instructions are very easy to follow. I would also recommend doing the clear alternatives integrated taillight at the same time. This will clean up the rear end of the bike.
CBRCRF 05-23-2007, 03:42 PM Hey Kodiak! How do you like the rear blinkers? Thats the one thing Im concerned about.
JonJon 05-24-2007, 01:38 PM here are my mods that you can see so far. http://www.cbrforum.com/m_285355/tm.htm

Hey Kodiak! How do you like the rear blinkers? Thats the one thing Im concerned about.
The rear blinkers are ok. Kinda small but still visible.Might change then out laterand go withan integrated tail.
I installed protons on the front, they also look sweet, but are hardly visible straightfrom front view.
firefighter110a 06-01-2007, 03:30 AM If you have the money... The hotbodies undertail custom exhaust is great... and it sounds good too. I have it on my 06 1000 RR. Be careful about where you place your plate... I'm short and lowered the rear 1" and had problems with the plate hitting the tire...
