What all should I lube when putting my wheels back on? chainstretcher 05-19-2009, 08:00 AM I use mobil hi temp grease (the greenish stuff). You're not really lubricating anything with it because everything turns on bearings (and they should be of the sealed variety) so practically any grease would do. You just want something to repel water and keep it from rusting. Juliet 05-19-2009, 08:18 AM It's worth pointing out these rarely have enough grease on and often seize in place ... I once had a terrible time knocking mine through and made sure it was well greased after that ... it may be worth removing these to grease them as a matter of course. LoneWolf04 05-20-2009, 07:51 PM I just use the mobil 1 synthetic grease thats red. same stuff I lube the chassis of my truck with. Just a thin coating so it wont rust and glides back together. some guy #2 05-20-2009, 08:55 PM Thanks everyone. I got Lucas oil bearing grease and it has all the properties you guys and gals mentioned. bluej511 05-21-2009, 05:33 AM I use chain wax muahahaha, works for the chain why not for the axle. |
