Started the bike up, Let it idle for a couple of minutes, gave it a couple of rev ups and during the middle of like a 5 grand rev it just cuts off. Go to hit the switch, it just clicks and the headlights turn out, but they come back on when you let off the starter switch. Turn the bike off and switched it back on, and the fuel pump no longer primes itself.
Is there a fuse for the fuel pump, or maybe a relay somewhere along the line? I checked under the seat and there was nothing.
2001 F4i btw.

If you don't have it yet, here's a downloadable Service Manual: LINK (http://redirectingat.com/?id=42X146&url=http%3A//www.carlsalter.com/motorcycle-manuals.asp)

Even if the pump doesnt prime it should still crank. If its not cranking then I would guess that the motor is hydrolocked. Caused by a bad FPR (fuel pressure regulator), which dumped a sht load of gas into your head, and now the valves cant open. If thats the case then you need to pull out the sparkplugs and hit the starter button to blow out all the excess fuel, and it will blow out all over everything so cover the holes with a rag. It will crank but not fire. If the pump isnt priming then you need to check the fuses and the fuel pump relay. There's a way to hotwire the pump directly to the battery to see if it still works but I'm not sure how to do that. good luck

I also had thoughts of a bad FPR, due to the other day when I started it and it had a sluggish idle and rev up as if it was getting too much gas, then shut off and would not start back up. If I do pull the plugs then how am I supposed to spin it over if the bike won't spin over? Which makes me think it is something electrical. Don't know.

Once the plugs are removed, the engine WILL turn. Because of the excess fluid in the head, the valves cannot open because there is nowhere for the fluid to go, therefore the motor wont turn over, you can't even push start it, if you try the back tire just locks up. I've been through this (hydrolocked motor) You dont have an electrical problem (well you might, but thats the pump not priming) Or the pumps not priming cause the build up of pressure in the fuel line. Just take out the plugs cover the holes with a rag and hit the starter button. Problem 1 solved. Replace the FPR, prob. 2 solved. Then troubleshoot the pump to solve prob. 3

Ahh I see, thanks for elaborating on that for me. Using that manual I have the steps to troubleshoot the pump, I now just have to wait till pay day so I can order an FPR.
Thanks for all the help guys.

You probably have to change the oil too. Its probably full of gas too. On that note, you dont have to use expensive motorcycle oil and filter. I suggest Rotella T in the BLUE jug and a Mobil 1 filter for a Civic. That'll save ya like 20-30 bucks.

Well after letting the bike sit a couple days, I go outside and turn the switch on and the fuel pump still doesnt prime. Bumped the switch and it started to turn over and it surprised me so I let off and low and behold the fuel pump started priming. Maybe it evaporated or something and was no longer hydrolocked? Idk
