Looking to get a different pipe instead of the stock one. I've heard that D&D can loose power and they sound bad, but what would be the best pipe? Just looking for a slip on and I'm kind of leaning towards a yoshi. Any suggestions?

Depends on how much you want to spend. You're not going to see much (if any) power gains with a slip-on, so basically you're only buying it for looks and sound. Mine's got an Akrapovic and it fit's both of those criteria very well, imo.
please don't buy d&d imo there worse than stock. incognito is right its more about looks and sound than power gain, heres what i have and i wouldn't trade it for anything

I have a D&D carbon full system for sale. I thought it sounded nice when i was riding the bike but everyone I rode with said it was loud as hell. Had my buddy ride it down the road and...yup... it was super loud. Looks sharp and doubt you will loose power with this full system but anyways, I bought a 2bros slip on and waiting to see the differences in sound and performance. My buddy says it sounds nice when I beat it, so if you ride hard with high Revs then it should be good. Anyways, if you want a full system, it is almost new and will sell for about the price of a new slip-on.

I have a two brothers. can't say I noticed any performance difference. but there is definitely a noise difference. sounds fantastic at idle. I love it in my underground garage at home (neighbors aren't quite that keen). Only complaint is that it does seem to drone at cruising speed. I still cant make up my mind if I find it annoying, as I haven't had it all that long.

yea 2Bros
ive never heard one that doesnt sound good, on any bike, kawi, zuki, honda
they have a deep enough tone and sound smooth, but when you open it up they can scream. of course everyone is prob gonna be biased to their own exhaust
before i got my bike i was looking for a bike with a yoshi also, but then when i got this bike it had the two bros on it and i think they sound better than yoshis

I would think about it. RS-3 SS is what I have on mine right now. Im selling it to get the TRS CF. TRS looks a little better, but is quite a bit louder, and has a lower tone somewhat similar to 2 bro. I dont like my RS-3, too quiet for me and bland sounding.

Eh, I have a D&D on my bike and it works great for me. Its deeper tone than stock and can be extremely loud if you want it to be. its fun going through downtown and running it at 8K RPM, it turns heads.

Haha ya i deffinitly want my bike louder than stock because it sounds cool and its safer when other people can hear you, but unfortunatly the cops can be pretty anal about the noise. being from a town of about 2500, they know just about everything about you and where to find you. but i know what you mean by getting the sound to reflect off the glass/concrete downtown!

First of all, louder does NOT mean safer. That is a wide spread misconception, and a false sense of security. And secondly, big brother knows just about everything about all of us, it doesn't matter how small of a town you come from. If they want you they will come get you, no matter where you're at. Third, the best pipe to have is a CRACK pipe. Why do folks insist on asking "whats the best..." tires, oil, brakes, exhaust, ect. ect. Its all a matter of personal preference and driving style. Sure there are some that are better than others, but I think the question needs to be "Hey what do you guys suggest....and why?" Not "whats the best"
Dominate.

Hey..I have an RS-3 haha. The previous owner put a lame dent in the can though -_- As for tone I like it but I'd like something a little bit louder. As for looks..can't say it's the best looking pipe there. But whatever.. I don't have the money for another one. Here's a pretty crappy vid of my RS-3 if you want lol.
My bike came with a chrome type M4 slip on, the sound was nice, but not as nice as the 2bros slip on my pops 1000RR.
Since I don't like chrome, I sanded it, cut about 4 inches from the canister, and painted black. The sound is not loud at all (the 2bros on the 1000rr is actually louder, than the modified M4), and the black paint looks so much better than the chrome finish.
Now if I had the money, a high mount would be nice :p

I don't see why people.......(skoobydoobie (http://www.cbrforum.com/forum/member.php?u=31424)) insist on complaining when someone asks what the best piece of equipment is. For instance, Akropovic is probably a better made pipe than something like a D&D. I didnt look into it but Im sure it gains more horsepower, fits better, and is made of higher quailty materials, therefore being a better pipe. I can understand if I asked, what pipe sounds the best?, then that would be a matter of opinion. However I should have refrased the question to "Which is the best quality pipe?" AND louder can be safer. If a driver does not check their blind spot and cant hear anyone there, they may change lanes, cutting the biker off. If the driver can hear the biker there, he will most likely look where the motorcycle is.

"What's the best" threads are fun and informative, plus it lets folks brag a little about what they have.
I enjoy them, especially oil threads, but I'm sick that way. I'll back you on that STi*F4i=FUNi^2.

Personally, I think this logic was developed by Harley Davidson riders to justify putting on annoyingly loud
straight pipes on their cruisers, thereby inflating their macho man egos even more. Good riders will always
anticipate that a car will cut them off and will behave accordingly; ie. not riding in blind spots and
always having an escape.

My exhaust is a full exhaust, not slip on, and high mount at that, but the canister is a Two Brothers C2 and it sounds EXCELLENT. It screams at high RPMs, has a nice throaty sound at lower RPMs, and doesn't drone hardly at all at cruising RPMs. For longer trips or a lot of high RPM curve work I'd still recommend ear plugs, but for regular cruising for an hour or two or commuting it's perfect in the helmet and sounds great outside too.

Jardine RT-1 aluminum slip-on here. Paid $240 for it,easy install,looks great.
Not a real deep tone @ idle, but sounds great in the middle & rips up top.
Not real loud around town (Kinda quiet actually) which is exactly what I wanted
But sounds great on the track :)

I like my Bootleg, mainly because of the looks. But it also sounds like a Two Brothers, which is nice. Good luck finding one, though. :(
I also have an akrapovic and it sounds awesome I have the full exhaust but you can feel it in the ground standing next to the bike. Its deep sounding, and sounds even better at 110.But its all up to you what your going to use it for and what kind of sound your looking for.I know people that run stock to ear spliting so whos to say whats right. As for a powerloss due to adding a pipe I have never heard of that but am wondering if its true if anyone finds concrete reading let me know I will keep checking the thread.

Two Bro's you won't regret it. They are def one of the best sounding pipes out there. Few of my friends have yosh; they are more louder not as deep as Two Bro. Also, few of my friends have scorpion; they are louder than dirt!

Level one racing! It is the loudest and best sounding pipe, hell it only weighs 2 pounds. I did notice I lost some backpressure/torque which I can feel taking off from a stop if I dont get the revs above 3k. Well worth it, and wasn't too expensive. I also have the shorter 10" race core...

hahaha, you are so right. just the other day i was riding my bike to have lunch and i see this group of cruisers and harleys ride in the opposite direction and they JUST HAD TO rev so freaking loud when they downshift. I noticed that they do it all the time. scared the crap out of me kuz i wasnt expecting that and i was jsut chilling at the light..i jumped a lil when i heard the crack...damn things sound like they're gonna fall to pieces...lololol lawlcats...haha..sorry if i offended anyone who has harleys and cruisers...
