got a new used cyl hd with valves & cam shafts and cover all in one ,put on bike and
went to size valves , 6 of the valves i couldnt get a feeler in, the other ones
were within tolerance 3 on the intake side and 3 on the exhaust side, is this
something that happens swapping hds off of other
bikes ? the head had 7000miles on it and i wouldnt think it should be this far out
could it be something im doing wrong? if im off by a tooth on the cam shaft to the chain
could this cause this? need some advice
its a 2000 cbr600f4 swapped heads because when i went to do a valve adj
1 of the journals were scored bad so with all the feed back from all of you i decided to get a used hd off of ebay

you have to make sure each cylinder is at TDC (top dead center) before you try to measure the valves you're measuring. If its not at TDC then the valves are open and cant be measured, they have to be closed. And being one tooth off could cause ur timing to be off so fix that.

Hey honda f4 ~ good to see you got that head. Here's a write-up for the valve check/adjustment. It's for an F4i but it should be very similar. LINK (http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=85499) You need to turn the crankshaft and align the index marks from the right side of the crankcase.
