Been wondering alot lately what alot of modern guitarists would sound like if they were only able to use the equipment that was available in the 60's/70's....i firmly believe that the lack of easily available effects, delay, and over-distortion required you to be a better player. Every note was going to be heard, as opposed to many guitarists/solos of today, which can be sloppily played and still sound ok due to much delay/chorus/etc....whatcha think X? Voodoo?

I totally agree, If I had to have one setup to use for the rest of eternity it would be a '59 Les Paul and a Marshall Plexi with a good sturdy cord. That is the sound I've chased since way back when and I can get really close with modern modelers but nothing breaks up and distorts like vintage british valve technology and OLD Gibson wood. the cleans are driven and the distortion is secksi to say the least.

I hear ya on the les paul, but i think i might have to go with a '65 twin reverb...i dunno what it is about that amp, but i've always been in love with it. Even IF you gotta be workin on the thing all the time lol.......

ok guys, if u want to talk about guitars and guitarists-I will take a strat hands down. U can't suck at playing the guitar and have it sound good through a single coil guitar like a strat or a tele, just listen to Hendrix or Clapton and the skill just comes through those single coils.I know Page loved his les pauls and humbuckers but he's not in the same class as Hendrix (oh boy here comes a fight). Sorry but it's true
