chain on my 1999 CBR900 broke into 2 so i am looking at getting a new chain and sprocket set as well. i need one with fast acceleration. what brand of chain/sprocket should i get and how many gearings on the sprocket, front and rear?

how many teeth do your current sprockets have? usually the number will be stamped on the sprocket somewhere. as for chain, I will only say, DID or RK for chain. my RK only stretched a bit within 1000 miles of riding and regular lubing/checks, you can say I'm sold on that.

if your gearing is stock, -1/+2 front and rear will do nicely to give you some good acceleration.

If you really want acceleration i would agree with the -1 +2 gearing, its a bit much for me persoanlly, but many others love it. As far as brands you will probably get several opinions. Personally i love Driven, i have never had an issue with them. If you really abuse your bike you can also get higher strength chains and sprockets, although they do cost more. I get mine thru Motomummy for what its worth. If your not sure exactly what you want, look them up and give them a call, they will hook you up right. You can also do colors if you so choose.
