A buddy of mine has a turbo silverado SS...long story short i haven't heard of a 600 being able to outrun it nor do i think i will...thing chews through tires in pretty much any gear when driven carelessly. But check out this Vette(Yah i'm a vette junky...whats new)...couldnt imagine the look on a riders face when this thing tears past them and keeps pulling...i imagine it beating a liter bike in top end like it's nothing

Ditto ... big $$$ to beat a bike in a straight line. The Busa I boosted cost $10K and another $3K for the turbo. Worked with guys that had $50K+ in motors with superchargers, turbo, NOS and they never stood a chance [sm=badbadbad.gif]

The torco vette didn't top out...cbr1000rr's have been gps verified to top out at what...186mph? if we are going to talk vettes then the top speed of a c6 zo6 is 198 in the right conditions, the top speed of a normal c6 is 186. Of course there are more than just straight lines on any roads around the world.

Before anyone who knows GM tries to call me on this, the motor in it is currently NOT the 408...it's the donor "have fun and go boom" motor while the 408 is being finished...it's currently running on 18psi and chews the tires loose on a roll even in 4th gear....the truck was swapped to a 6speed

Redrider, i get what your saying completely. Please do recognize some of us build cars that can corner very quickly as well. ;)
that trucks sweet, I have always been a truck guy, an a truck that can move and looks good is awesome:D
TK, nice ride, I love camaros and t/a's! there pretty easy to build up, but changing spark plugs is a bitch! atleast in my 95 formula it was....

If I ever had the extra cash I would be throwing a 454 in my truck. My Silverado I have right now is 2 wheel drive, with step side, but unfortunately it only has the 4.3 in it.

That's because GM decided it was a good idea to stick half the engine under the dashboard... and the distributor under the water pump... and all kinds of other ass-backwards design ideas!

No... they decided to build the car around a 5.7. They knew what they were putting in it. The vette had it the year before. I had an 86 ta and holy **** you could do anything under there, then they go and cram an LT1 in the damn thing and it takes me 10 hours to do plugs, wires, and a distributor on my 96. Thank you GM!

Yea until the high RPM's lol...but they sound nice with true duals. If i remember correctly you can swap out the pistons for some type of gain...i can't remember because i was too interested in the ls1 swap on my blazer when i had it. I had a 4.3 also, straightpipe from the cat back....sounded like a big block when you started it lol

Yea cars like that are mean in top end straight runs...venom 1000 will get eaten by the latest lingenfelter creation...c6 corvette 0-226.6mph in one mile on pump gas...which is flat out disgusting... http://www.lingenfelter.com/Lingenfelter2006ZO6TTBGB.htm

i can tell a v6 from a v8 a mile away...the v6 camaros, trucks, and mustangs with duals around here aren't fooling anyone. problem with vipers is they can't hook worth a ****, if a Venom 1000 could launch it'd eat cars and bikes alive...people put all this money into motors but don't bother with suspension to back it up, off the top of my head I can think of one particular 800hp n/a nova(it's gold, the guy said he drove it regularly on the street), it was in hot rod or something a few years back, it's no twin turbo viper or vette but it'd do high 8s...high friggin 8s! that's 'busa territory. Gotta get it to the ground or it ain't ****.
Viper Venom 1000
1/4 mile: 10.5 sec. @ 153 mph....that IRS will get you every time, same reason 600hp terminator cobras are in the mid 11s. Supras have the same problem, you see 1200hp supras but some piss poor 1/4 time and a high trap speed.
found something...
http://images.carcraft.com/featuredvehicles/116_0706_02_z+1971_nova+engine.jpg
that small block...no turbo, no s/c...guilty of a heavy dose of n20 propels a street trim 72 nova to 9.87 at 134...blowing the 1000hp viper out of the water. obviously there's something wrong when the car trapping over 150mph loses the foot race to a car trapping 134. Hennessey should be ashamed. An 11:1 383...nothing insane.
Bcause we were curious, we dialed up our handy power-speed calculator and with a race-ready 3,480-pound car with driver, a 134-mph trap speed equals something close to 700 flywheel horsepower. Not bad for an all-iron small-block.
TK954RR
11-11-2008, 08:47 PM
I dont think he should be ashamed, it just is what it is. This nova is obvoiusly setup to drag race, the viper is set up to make mad hp its just a street car. Take both cars to a road coarse once, or a skid pad, i bet i know which car would win those. No car can be great at everything, which is why we have bikes :D

word...unfortunately the people buying venom 1000s more than likely to never take it around a track...just brag about the numbers. They should be ashamed when their 800tt did 10 flat at 138 back in 2001...much more respectable...flash forward to 2008 and the car's slower...considerably, half a second in 10 second land is like an eternity. You'd think spending 250gs on a viper would give you the whole enchilada.

Yea i guess for that price tag your right, about the only thing i can say in defense, is its really hard to hook up 700+ hp in a newer car. The only way is to mini tub or 3 link it, but then it becomes a track car again, and loses most of its cornering and sportiness if you will. If its not clear im not arguing with ya weasel, not by a long shot. Im just throwing out another point of view, my car is the same way almost. I laid down well over 600hp and 700tq, i ran on a 9x28 slick and cannot hook it up at all, and i have all the suspension i can, like that it went11.1 @ 142. That tune is pretty much maxxing me out, and i didnt want to be there for a street car anyhow, so made a pulley change, and retuned it. Got it down to making right around460hpand 500tqat the wheels, and that hooks up. Again with slicks and a tad bit of fine tuning the rear suspensio it went 10.9 @ 127. I will take that all day, but again its all about cutting that 1.4 60 ft compared to the 2.2. I dont my car is the cats ass by any means, heck i have lost to nearly stock ls1*s with slicks and nitrous. But it suits me very well, and if i really need i can change pulleys and tune in about 15 minutes and give any liter bike a run for its money.

trapping 142mph...holy ****balls that's fast for sure lol. by chance what are your suspension mods? if you don't have a cage already I bet they weren't too happy at the track with those times. only thing I really know about your camaro is it's s/c'd what else is done to the motor?

For suspension i have subframe connectors, lowered 2 inches, adjustable panhard rod, adjustable lower control arms, adjustable sway bar, adjustable torque arm with driveshaft loop, koni 10 way adjustable shocks, poly bushings in everything, thats the rear anyhow, dont think im missing anything.
As far as underhood its the lt1, 30 over, forged everything, 8.5:1 comp, flow matched and ported heads and intake, comp cam (custom grind to match flow and supercharger). Fuel and ignition is in place for up to 900hp, ran with my laptop and lt1 edit software. Just gave you a short list, if you want everything in detail i can, just didnt feel like typing out a full page at the moment ;)
The s/c is a powerdyne that has been re-worked by 928 motorsports, new design impeller, bearings, case has been ported for cooling, and switched to gear drive internally. The low tune im running 8psi (normal use), the big tune is running 16psi, and i was guaranteed if i want i can spin it to 22-24psi. I have thought about it, but i would need to add meth injection and bigger injectors to be safe, and dont really feel the need.
Just for fun here is a vid, its nothing special, just a few shots i took for the exhaust, and a few take offs with no traction. The first 30 seconds is running with the cutout open :D(this was on teh 8psi setup)
this is awesome

only thing I didn't see was lca relocation brackets, you weld em to the bottom of the rear end and it drops the back of your lca's 3 inches for better traction...I'm sure you know that, but if you don't have em and your car is lowered then I can see why you have poor traction. I put some on my 89 and the difference is amazing.
