Hey, I'm about to change my oil/oil filter on my 02 F4I. I was wondering do you guys reccomend the factory OEM oil and oil filter? I looked on this site http://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/FilterXRef.htmland it said that the OEM oil filter is not recommended. What do you guys think?

i have leaned on that site for awhile now and i like the testing and reasoning behind their conclusions....therefore, i go by what their tests have found...i personally use the purolator based on their recommendation and have had no issues thus far.....

just my .02

Oh yeah I forgot to mention, what about the oil? should I go with the Factory Oil from Honda dealerships?

i use Honda Oil the red bottle, but that's just me....i did a full drain and decided to use it because i don't have a lot of miles on my baby....but a lot of guys use repsol, mobi, and numerous others, i don't think any are really that bad....

i can't remember off the top of my head....i don't think you should mix non and synthetic unless you are doing a full drain and i think you should wait past the break in for awhile before converting to synth if you want...

overall, i think it's just a personal preference, both oil and filter...you can read a TON of threads on here about oil...i use Honda Oil just because i can get it at my bike shop....but that's just me....

i use the oem oil filter and it works just fine. i got a k&n air filter so i would prob never have to worry about that again, it was like only $50 and well worth it to me. for oil, i just use the reg motorcycle 10w40. works great, i tried full synthetic (royal purple)and it screwed with my shifting really bad so i don't even touch that stuff anymore.

Great site. However, I am kind of skeptical about a Walmart oil filter being better than Honda OEM...

As for what i run... Honda filter, Repsol 4T "syntetico" 10-40 (syntetic blend).

I use honda filters and oil, better be good for the price. And if something goes wrong I can blame honda for telling me to use their stuff. Far fetched I know

I used amsoil with oem filter, but after reading up on it plan on using purolator pure one filter next time.

Oil is oil. Personal preference. All the stuff out there about better performance and stuff is jibberish.

amsoil all the way, firm believer, bought a cr250 and the guy told me how bad it was at fouling plugs, so i jewed him down 500$ brought it home, cleaned the tank, washed it good, 93 ocaine and 32:1 amsoil, never fouled another plug truth!
