have a Q re: sprockets + chain, i need to replace mine ,1993 CBR 600F2 , i am told its a good idea when replacing chain to replace sprockets also, mine do not show a ton of wear but i figure the amount of strees they go thru riding ill do the sprockets also while iam doing chain , I assume the sprockets are stock size, front and back, as far as the amount of teeth on them, i have not counted them. my Q is, is it better to upgrade per say to more teeth or less teeth front or back??. i only ride street, no track or stunt riding. my next Q is what is a 5-20 conversion?? what type of chain is better than stock??

520 is refering to the width of the chain(5) and length of each link(20) (measured in eights of and inch i think?)your bike probaly came with a 530 or 535 the 520 is a little lighter and some say stronger, if your going to replace your spockets any way u should just get a 520 conversion kit and go down one tooth on the front sproket and up two on the rear your bike will really come to life you will lose about 10-15 mph of top speed but the bottom end will pull like a bull dozer, if your chain is bad enough that it needs to be replaced you definitley should replace the sprockets

Just so you know the reason for replacing sprockets together with the chain is...... If you put a new chain on old sprockets the chain will wear faster, same applies with new sprockets and old chain. As for make, D.i.D all the way for chains. Best I`ve found.

yes. a 520 conversion kit comes with the front sprocket, rear sprocket, and appropriate length chain. everything needed to do the swap. check out calsportbike.com. they are a sponsor on here and they were offering specials on the 520 conversion. worth checking out. they should also be able to answer any and all of your questions.

yeah. thats it. a normal upgrade is -1/+2 but anything you want (within reason) can be done. you can even go with stock gearing with the conversion.

One reason I'm sticking with stock gearing is because it throws your odometer off, so it shows you are putting on more miles than you really are. Any way to fix this? Thanks.
