brancart1 01-04-2006, 05:50 PM I bought new frame sliders for the bike today, i bought the SHO-gun frame sliders from Cal-sportbike and got a pretty good deal on em', well does anybody have good detailed instructions on how to install them? possibly pictures to go along with? thanks ya'll
timmimak 01-06-2006, 04:39 AM you have to drill into the fairings

fishfryer527 01-06-2006, 10:42 AM Do a search, you have to drill, then cut a hole. The only hard point that works (so I hear) is behind the fairing.
There are many detailed posts on this, so do your homework. I'm doing mine next week. Good luck
timmimak 01-06-2006, 04:43 PM there is a easier way, when i had my cage installed. Use a drill and small drill bit, drill it than use a dremel to make the hole bigger so the slider fits in.
Tahoe SC 01-06-2006, 04:51 PM yo mang...them are some bling sliders...it's going to hurt if your bike falls over!
brancart1 01-06-2006, 08:08 PM what you mean?, i like the instructions with the playdoh, im gonna go about it that way cause that seems the easiest
doncollins 01-07-2006, 12:32 AM I found the laser technique the easiest and safest way. I only wished I had measured my pucks before drilling the 2" hole... it's too big. Should have been 1 3/4". I couldn't do the playdoh method... too much foam padding behind my fairing. The laser put me dead center and let me check before I drilled the hole.

I agree with the laser method. When I put the sliders on my bike I will deffinately use a laser pointer.
brancart1 01-07-2006, 04:19 AM i dont understand how you could use a laser pointer? anyone got the write up for the laser pointer?
pupdog_88 01-07-2006, 04:27 AM just take the fairing off and take out the bolt that slider goes in put the new longer bolt in the hole about 2-3 threads put the fairing back on and just press against where the bolt is it will leave a mark on the inside of the fairing take a drill and drill right in the middle of the mark than put on a hole saw that just clears the slider and drill right threw it from the out side of the fairing and you have one straight hole that is the right size, did mine and they came out perfect.

here is a link for different ways for installing frame sliders, including the laser pointer method. hope this helps. (http://www.cbrforum.com/m_21933/mpage_1/key_frame%2Csliders/tm.htm#21933)
pupdog_88 01-07-2006, 04:44 AM i've never heard of the laser poiter method but that is a sweet ass idea i'll try that next time i put on a set of cut-out frame sliders.
pitsvtec 01-07-2006, 02:54 PM I bought Lightening so I wouldn't have to drill into the fairings. But post pics when you get them done.
doncollins 01-07-2006, 03:05 PM The laser method is easy... just remove the plastics and prop up a laser level, not just a pointer, on the head of the engine mount bolt. Make sure the laser is level with the bike. Now that you have the red dot on the bolt, put your plastic back on and mark the red dot. Important part. Take the plastic back off and make sure the dot is still in the right place. If it is, you just verified that the hole will be right. Like I said before, measure your sliders/pucks... I read 2" every where and never thought to check. With my Vortex sliders, 1 3/4" would have fit better. PM or ask if you have any more questions... this is an easy mod to do but you don't get any second chances on it.
