what gears yall got? do ya like it
Its time for new chain and sprockets it has the 16/43 no matter what my paperworks says...lol I know I am going with a 15 in the front but I not sure ifI will go with a 43 or up 2 to a 45 in the rear . How much top end do you lose and how bad off is the speedo and the rpms i know will change but no enough to matter to me i think i like the power wheelies and the top end speed now but a like get up from the start off would be nice any help from help is much needed thanks yall...
I was running a 15-45 setup and, whilst I liked the get up and go, I found it too busy at highway speed. So, I recently went to 16-45 (front sprocket being cheaper ;-) ). The bike now is doing around 5000 rpm at 60 mph (the reading is about 5% fast: 102 kph true vrs 109 indicated).
I've been meaning to change to a bigger rear sprocket, but after reading all the other threads, I decided to stay stock. There are a few guys whotried a few different set-ups and ended up staying stock. For my type of riding, stock is good enough for me...
I bought a 520 conversion that is -1/+2 and I think it's geared a little too much. I have a speedo healer that is pretty close to accurate according to GPS and it says I'm topped at about 165ish with a few mods done. I do a lot of big mile rides and don't need the acceleration at much as I'd like more than 120 miles out of a tank so I'm going to go back to the standard counter sprocket and keep the +2 in the back for now.
