Default Timing chain tensioner???

Are these adjustable, or automatic? If automatic, how can I make sure the tensioner is working? I'm getting some engine noise/vibration that I didn't hear before, especially around 4000rpm. Want to make sure I'm not i danger of the timing chain skipping teeth. Thanks, Phillip

the bolt is a plug under that plug is a spring that pushes a small piston inward.that lil piston has locks etched on it"lil teeth" so it cannot back off,no bolt equals no tension but in most cases the teeth will hold inward unless you depress the lock,my question is'nt where the bolt went, where did that spring go" it must came out like a rocket it's very rigid.by the way nothing can go in the motor.it only goes one way.............
