I have always seemed to be defending my choice to ride a 600cc bike. I'm 180 lbs and over 6 foot, but I don't feel that my 2002 600F4i is struggling to pull my fat ass around. My Harley friend thinks my little 600cc is a "starter" bike and that a stock Hog would out run me in the 1/4 mile. I'm okay with his lack of knowledge about 600cc sportbikes, but recently I overheard another sportbike rider talking about his bike that confuses me. He was barely 150 lbs and maybe 5' 6" tall. And all he did was talk about how a 600cc bike was too weak and he needed a 1000cc bike. Was he just a bragging jackass? Or is everybody on this forum under 150 lbs?

i can't imagine how 11.5 seconds in quarter mile can be "weak". 1000cc does have more torque, but that's a real lot of torque. not just stronger than "weak":) i don't know if you have such word like "squid" for such guys. in ukraine, we have:)

they both were complete dumbphuqs.

I weigh 180 - 190, 6' tall n My 600 hauls me around just fine. People who say they need a 1000 to haul their fat asses are making excuses, they just want the extra useless power, thats it.

And the HD guys are just dreaming n hatin. I doubt a streetable built Vtwin will outrun even my 00 stock 00 F4 much less any current 600's in the 1/4, the 1/8 maaaaayyyyybeeeee.

Two up my F4i feels fast once it gets in the powerband.

I have never had anyone except a Victory salesman ever even say that a 600cc sportbike was slow.

He was barely 150 lbs and maybe 5' 6" tall.

Tell that 8th grader to shut the f**k up. I take sh*ts bigger than 150 lbs.

Harley friend = douchebag. The other sportbike rider must be ready for Moto GP if a 600cc sportbike is "too weak". I winder if he is able to ride it up to 95% of it's capability. That always makes me laugh.

i'm like 215-220 w/o gear....

i ride a 750 on the track to compete with the lil jockey guys on 600's and
a cbr 1000 on the street....

i can't even remember when i was 180...maybe as a fish or soph. in h.s.

if i was 180 again my 750 would be alot better on them straights...

Like the other guys said the harley rider is completely dreaming. I'm 6'4" 220 lbs, and my F4i has no problem pulling me around. Hell it even does good with me and my girlfriend on it. One of my best friends started out on an F4i and now rides nothing other than R1's. He rode my bike the other day and says he kinda misses his old bike. He says he doesn't need the 1000 he just likes the power. He's one of the best riders I know and even he'll tell you that he's only riding the bike to about 80% of it's potential. All I can tell you is ride what you like. Make it look like you want it to and ride it how you want to ride it. Don't listen to other people it's your bike. Be safe and have fun.

dude.. im a fat ****.. 6' 0 220lbs and my 04600rr would "pull" my lard ass around faster than i desired.

granted i raced dirt track, and **** when i was little in oklahoma.. knowing how to ride properly allows you to use all of its abilities. which harley riders do not.

cant wait to burn lard on my 08 600rr

This post makes me laugh, cuz I am 5'5" and 150 lbs. And racing is just a big pissing contest. Who cares who's is faster? All sportbikes are fast and speeding on public roads is asking for an accident or jail. Ride responsible and be safe.

after 4 hits of PCP everything feels slow, especially to a harley owner :)
f4i will run circles around the 883 sportser. if you are referring to the Vrod then yes, the f4i might not keep up.
the bottom line for you comparison is this. its not the weight of the bike + the rider, nor the amount of torque or power produced by the bike. it all comes down to the expectation from the rider.
some riders think they need more power, others think they need more torque + etc and after you had you fill of the bike you will always want to upgrade to something faster and more powerful.

harley people always under estimate the sports bikes because of the smaller displacement. its the nature of the game.
there is a reason why they are called supersport bikes; and how many harlys do you see on the track during a MotoGP race?

Well i'm 6' and 200 lbs w/out gear and I have smoked my friend on his 954 when I had my F4i.These F4i's are very fast,I kind of miss mine, but like the torque of my bike, but that's about it. As far as HD my co-worker has a 1200 w/ a screaming seagull kit in it and he thinks he's the ****e,but smoked his @ss on my Yamaha seca 600 which has about 50 HP.Just ride what you like and be safe.

LOL a stock hog out run our "little" bikes.WOnt happen.EVER..

Mine moves me just fine.Im 255 before gear. The only thing our bikes lack is the suspension/sag for us heavier folks. But that is sorted out(actually fairly easy and cheap).

Well for the cost comparison you can tell that Harley guys to suck a left nut. If you put 25K into an F4i the Harley would just hittin 2nd while ur hitting your brakes at the end of a 1/4. If the acceleration factor is a big deal drop your front sprocket and raise the back. Move you power to lower in your RPM range. That Harley isnt going 150 anyway so it wouldnt matter. 600cc bikes have a lot more potential than 98% of riders know what to do with or even how to unleash it. Yes 1000cc do have a lot more power but the experience is what matters. I had a ZX-9R and I personally think my F4i pulls my fat ass around better than the 900. I am 6'1" 225.

It is good to hear that there areriders on this forum that are over 200 lbs (except for the health reasons) and ride a 600cc sportbike. I just think most of the people who give me crap about riding a 600 need the bigger and better toys to compensate for other issues. I actually had people groan in disappointment when I told them I rode a 600. And then look at me like I just wasn't good enough to ride the big bike. But I'm happy with my F4i and I go as fast as I need to.At least we can laught about it.

Ok dude here ya go. I am 6'1" and 320, very stocky. I have never had a problem keepin up with anyone. I don't race track and don't drag race. After 3 years this bike still can scare me. I only have problems ridin 2up (suspension don't like it). Even at that the bike is damn quick.

Some interesting facts, here is something to think about. If you weight 150 and you have a passenger of 150 you are now hauling 300 lbs of weight. And there is still more that enough power to haul 300 lbs and still outgun a Harley. Intriguing isn't it?

I saw a show on the V-Rod and it said it did 0-60 in 3.5 seconds which was half of the next fastest Harley. A 600 can do it in what, 3.1 seconds? No air cooled Harley is going to keep up.

yea me too, it just happened last night. i was talkin to this guy who i hadnt talkd to in a long time and somehow bikes came up and he said "o you gotta bike?" and i said yea, he asked what kind and i said a CBR F4i and he was like "o.. just a 600 huh?" then he started talkin about his first bike ever was an R1 and he sold it a while ago but hes about 2 get another one, bla bla bla. everytime ppl say somethin about how 600s are weak or whatever i just think "when do i need to go faster than 160 mph???" lol

id rather be lighter and have good maneuverability and all that then just have a big bike that can do 0-60 a little faster than i can

Agree that the new 1000 is ugly.
Here's my take on power: Years ago I met a guy who says he raced an F3 or F2 (don't recall) and Ran a CBR900 as his streetbike. I understand why now. Most riders in this area can only twist the throttle, but most cannot corner worth a damn.

I was considering getting a new bike for the street and getting the new CBR1000RR just for the bling factor, but after thinking it over- If the F4i goes track only I'm leaning toward.....(gulp) Cruiser.

Anyone that thinks a 600 has nothing, tell them to take it to the track. When they say that it means they have become complacent. You'd be doing them a big favor by offering them the challenge of learning a new skill. Street and track are different worlds.

5'10" 200lbs thick. Pulls me just fine. I wouldn't mind a 1000 because the only thing better than one Honda is two. But seriously, whats the point of having more power if you ain't gonna use it. Have fun on your "little 600" while the morons have fun on their HDs.
