Hello All,

I recently recived a 88 Hurricane and im starting on what looks to be a long road of restoration. The bike def needs some TLC and some plastic repair/paint. Hopefully you guys will be able to answer a couple questions for me...

- The guy i got the bike from said that it was last started in Aug of this year.. I tried to start it last night but i couldnt even get the thing to turn over. Not even a click from the starter. It seems to be getting power as the headlights/taillights go on when in the start position, but when the start button is pressed, nothing happens.

-Secondly, The tank looks to have a little dusting of rust in it from sitting. Is there anyway to get rid of this? Or am I destined to buy a new tank?

Thanks in advance for your help.

pictures and complete rebuild thread are soon to follow :p

I had a really old tank done by a bike shop they silver soldered a couple of small Pin holes in the bottem and then then some how lined the inside with a type of clear coat it still looks all crappy and rusted inside but when you touch it, it feels smooth.

as for the other thing check the ignition fuse, 30A I think located at the end of the Big positive lead comming off the battey, just pull the plug off the little ignition that the lead goes to and the fuse should be there. I think the end of the plug is pink, let me know what you find
