So I just moved from MA to NH, I only had my permit in MA. Restrictions are no riding after dark, no passengers, and no out of state riding. Once I get my NH driver's license, my permit is no longer good. I was staring at my bike every day itching to get back on it, after a week and a half I said screw it, and went for a quick ride. Was going 45 in a 40, and the road switched to 30 very quickly, still going 45; I pass a cop. Guy turns the blues on and busts the fastest U-turn I have ever seen. I had to get out of there (or else I get arrested and lose my license) so I dropped a gear and took off, banged down a side street and another one, heart was RACING!! Stopped and got off my bike and waited about 20 minutes till the coast was clear, and went right home. I know I should have gotten my license already, but I was on vacation last week and just wanted to ride when i got back Saturday, can you blame me it was 85 and sunny as hell. Anyways, thats my story, getting my license tomorrow so I'm legal. Anyone have similar stories im sure??

Yup, there are. They're called ... (EDIT: no name calling, gotcha voodoo...sorry.)
Seriously, i had a friend who did that one night, except he had his license. I was happy that he didn't get in trouble (cause i'm his friend), but at the same time it's guys like him who get the rest of us a bad rep. I've only had a run in with a cop once and he was a real jerk to me, probably figured that since i rode a 'crotchrocket' i must have pulled those stunts all the time. I'm all about having fun, but dont run from the cops. It reflects badly on the rest of us who actually have some self control and at least make an effort to stay out of trouble. I don't mean to flame you, but that's just the way it is, bro.

Damn be careful the NH cops aren't as nice as they are here in MA. You got Lucky this time but be careful doing that. I've just started riding and would be scared ****less to run from the popo's.

CJ,
Please don't post stories about running from the police, there is no place for that stuff here. Thank you. And for those who are considering flaming this member, don't waste your time because I will have very little tolerance for name calling and sarcasm...it doesn't do anything but get everyone riled up. Why waste the energy. Let's just let this thread waste away into oblivion, and everyone will be happy. Thanks everyone!

yea thex is a real tough guy behind a computer screen. Listen pal, I was just telling a story, that was it, no need to be a dick about it. And voodoo, I was just telling what happened, i dipped down a side street, not the end of the world. i was doing nothing wrong, just driving around; I was on unfamiliar roads and it went from 40 to 30 like that. I wasnt about to get arrested and lose my license, I got too much riding on it. Didn't think I was going to get belittled from urself and thex, your not my father, dont tell me what not to post and what to post. Was simply telling an interesting story, I learned a lesson from it for sure, just wanted to talk about it, so let the thread dwindle. f you dont like my post, its simple, dont respond to it!!

Hey man, don't let this give you the wrong impression. You're welcome here as a fellow rider...but we can all agree that running from the cops isn't cool, and we'd rather not encourage such things in any respect on this forum. That's all. If that's not ok with you there are many other forums that are more favorable to that kind of thing. But if you have a technical question or just wanna share about things that don't concern breaking the law, it's all good. Nothing personal and no need for name calling. In fact i'm pretty impressed you haven't told all of us to go to hell by now. ;)
Keep it safe...

I live in NH. The cops arnt that bad. A buddy of mine has gotten pulled over without a MC endorsment on his liceans. No big deal just a warning and a escort home. You would have been in bigger trouble if you did get caught after running. Dont give the Cops another reason to hate sportbike guys.

i hear ya jmdaley and i agree. Im not gonna tell you all to go to hell, thex is just well lets say thex, I think it speaks for itself. He doesnt seem like a very personable guy, i know its not cool and i was not bragging at all, I ride my sportbike for the pleasure, not to be cool and ride fast and do wheelies and whatnot, I value my life. Just thought id share a story from when I was riding with you guys, but several people started acting like my dad saying theres no place for that here and so on and so forth, no big deal. I am still fairly new to this forum, so I will keep in mind its more technical and not badass stuff, lol have a good day everyone, exceot for thex, U SUCK!!!

I'm sure that running isn't worth the warning or possible ticket that you may have received. I was caught riding on a permit and given a warning. In your situation, a respectful explanation of your situation would have probably just got you a warning. Anyways, it was a learning experience that I'm sure you won't repeat. Ride safe.
