hello, i am new to the forum. i also just recently purchased my first cbr 600. i was just wondering if a cbr had been well taken care of, what is the average lifespan of the engine in miles? 50,000, 75,000, 100,000 miles? thanks.

Don't know, but my F4i manual's maintenance record goes to 68,000 so I'd think at least that much.

It really comes down to how hard it is ridden. I personally put 65,000 ( YES THAT IS 65 THOUSAND) on a FZR600 in a year.
I drove it from South Carolina to Sacramento 3 times in 4 months ( that is 3000 miles each way for a total of near 18,000 miles on those trips alone; since it was approximately 6,000 miles round trip and I did it in 3 days on the way out and 4 days on the way back) driving out westbound time was on my side; for example.....I would leave at 3 and drive for an hour; crossing the time line and arrive at 3.
It was just the opposite effect on the way back drive for a hour and it would be an hour later!! which is why it took 4 days to get back!! I would get up in the morning and write the mileage down and be shooting for the 1000 mile mark before I stopped.
On the way out it was from Charleston SC to just east of Little Rock AR, and sleep for 6 hours; Little Rock to just west of Albequrque New Mexico, and then finally from there to Sacramento.
I put at least 100 miles a day everyday on it, went to New York, Florida, Indiana, Atlanta, ect....And when the bike was stolen at the mall ( BASTARDS!!) I was upset but it did have alot of miles and it was insured. That was alot of non stressful highway miles and I have seen motors go over 100,000. Heck; Sport Rider magazine had a documented CBR900 back in '96 that a reader had 100,000 miles on it.
So if it is taken care of it is possible to go a LONG WAY. It is just like a little car engine except it is probally under less stress if it riden nicely.
