Currently, I have Dunlop D208's. The rear is toast, the front is close to new. Can you replace just a rear tire? AFAIK they don't make this tire anymore. What options would I have to just replace the rear tire?

sure you can :) just find a tire that will match the type of riding you do. me personally i love the pilot powers , but recently the bike i have now has a pilot poer in the rear and a meltzer m1 up front . and it feels godo so i havent messed with it because both tires are basically new

some people and obviously tire manufacturer will warn you that doing such things will cause your wife to leave you, your dog to dieand your manhoodwill shrink.

I've done it a lot, and while I am sure that mixing tires doesn't get the optimum from either, its not going to wreck anything or cause you to fall down.

One of my first bikes had a dunlop front and a metzler? M1 sport-tech rear. No problems to think of.

I got a screw in my stock Dunlop rear tire a few months ago. The front was practically brand new still..........so I replaced the rear tire with a Qualifier (closest tire in comparison to the stock).

I did with no problem.

I would only consider it a problem if one required a crazy long time to warm up and the other didn't and you were at the track.

i would say just make sure they have the same profile, and are both the same type, bias or radial.

Well, I put a Pilot Power on there. Feels great! The rubber just feels so much better on the rear. Just feeling it by touch, the rubber on the Pilot Power feels softer. I now wonder if theDunlop 208's wereold or something....makes me worry about my front tire. :(

rrasco, the store you love to hate (ACP) has a flyer out for 40% off any one item in the store for this Friday and Saturday before noon. You could get a hell of a deal, even though their tires (well, everything really) are overpriced to begin with. I could have bought the tire this weekend for $114 with that coupon, but I didnt want to wait. I am probably going to go get the front though with the coupon this weekend. I don't know if ACP stocks Pirelli's though.

ill just call and see if they have them first.

Did you have a bad experience there or is it just because of their overinflated prices?

experience. as with most stealerships, most of those people have no real interest in motorcycles and should not be in the business. with the exception of sean and david (knew him in HS)in parts, i dont like anyone there. it mostly has to do with right when i got a bike and didnt know anything, i had moneyin hand asking for help, and they basically told me they dont care and to do it all myself. thats not even getting me started on the prices.
