Ok so I have an 032 F4i with the Hotbodies undertail(LED taillight/blinkers) and I just got the Hotbodies LED flushmounts. The tailights worked fine witht he stock front blinkers on, but today when i hooked uo my flushmounts, i ran into problems.

The left blinkers don't seem to want to work at all. The right side will work, front and back, but the lefts wont work at all. When i click to the left the headlight dims real quick, and I get nothing(not even the blinker indicator on the display).

So do i need a reisstor? I went and bought a "blinker relay", but is that the same thing? Should I be hooking it up on the front or back? Do i need one for each side? Everything i read says it only helps the "fast blinker" situation.....

first, make sure your battery is fully charged. when I was troubleshooting mine, the battery drained quick, but not completely, causing erractic problems.(one was the fuel pump was clicking on and off with the blinker?????)
As soon as I put the battery on the charger, the troubleshooting became very easy.

I thought about the reisitors and the size of them, and possible heat, plus soldering connections, blah, blah. Just by the relay for like $20 and make it clean and simple.

If you do a search on here about flushmounts, you'll get an endless supply of threads. Almost all of the problems have been solved (including mine!) by simply adding a set of resistors to the front or back. If you still want them to blink slower, add a second set. I personally like the slightly faster blink rate that one set of resistors makes. I would try that (or the relay--either one should work) before you dive into more serious diagnostics.

Check out www.baysideperformance.com (http://www.baysideperformance.com) for a universal relay for the LED. I picked one up and it put the blinkers back to the DOT rate.

I had the same problem. I did not want to cover up the problem byusing resistors, so I spent a few bucks more on one relay. It cost 20 bucks compared to the 8-12 bucks the resistors cost. On your F4i all you will need to do is just plug this relay in and you are good to go. No need to splice and dice your wiring! The speed of the flashing is not the issue, the issue is my left signal dill not turn on at all. Is this also solved witha relay?

You need to be sure you have all your wiring correct, and that the battery is charged. I do not think the relay will solve that problem.

Hmmmm..I'm fairly certian I have it connected to the right wires, I wonder if maybe another connection loosened when I was hooking it up?!?!?!?1 Or maybe the battery, I didn't think of that......

Thanks for the input guys, I got them working. You were right krash, it was the conection. Hotbodies LED parts are cheesy, so the wireeither touching or coming disconnected right at the board, so I hotglued them a little better and they work. Thanks again!

Glad we could help, now that you mention it, I had the exact same problem with my flushmounts. You didnt happen to get yours for like $30 of e-bay did you?
maybe its the rejects? Or just overall poor quality control. regardless, glad you got it working.

I had the exact same issue with my hotbodies--wires shorting right of the circuitboard... hmmmm... Solved with good ol' hotglue... I paid schfifty-somthing for mine, though... Sorry I didn't see this thread until today so I couldn't have helped a couple of days ago.
