just wondering since i am having some work done to my bike.... are you allowed to ride in cali with integrated turn signals in your tail light? im talking about riding with an undertail and a integrated tail light, no turnsignals hanging from stalks.

The rear signals have to be at the rear of the bike and 9 inches apart.

I'm not sure how aggresively. If you get pulled and have any type of attitude they're going to nail you for everything. If you keep it mellow they're going to ignore you basically. You always have a chance of running into that one jerk that'll harrass you just because you're on a sportbike.

[sm=exactly.gif]and yes they do enforce it if the cop wants to get you for every little thing. chp got my brother for that and a few other thigs including to rear licence plate light (even though its clearly visable because of running lights) no red rear reflector. so it all depends on the cop

I know a lot of people who, while on group rides, get those D@mn fixit tickets. Mostly it is up near LA, ACH, Pali, etc... Normal comuting doesn't seem to draw the attention but if you ride in a group they might get you.

Basically from what I have read in the CA vehicle code it states that the signals must clearly distingush your intentions in daylight (300 feet??). I could be wrong because I've heard several people state there is a distance between signal rule, etc but I can't find that...

i'd say it depends on the cop's morning bowel movement
if he's constipated he's going to take it out on ya even if ya did nothing

if not, you basically get a free pass

I talked to the guys at Lee's Cycle and they said that anything other than stock is basically illegal. As for me, I'm running integrated tail (no signal stocks) and my license plate is sideways under my chain guard (no light). I've had cops behind me and nothing happened, but I wasn't doing anything stupid either.

I have the integrated turn signals/tail lights on my bike and I've never had an issue yet. But I also use hand signals when I see a cop behind me, just so they can't say I didn't signal my turn. I suppose they can nail ya for anything, but if you ride normal when there's a cop behind you, you're probably pretty safe.
